I'm sure the dealership will fight the issue, but in reality, the dealership would have to prove that the lid was the cause of the problem.
Overly obvious example would be: Your window motor quits, but you have an aftermarket induction on your car (lid). They CANNOT refuse to fix the window motor under warranty... That being said, most dealerships will argue with you until YOU give up if there is even a stab in the dark.

Yep Thats actually illegal, They cant void the warranty unless they can prove that the lid caused something to mess up directly related to whats broken. This law was caused because some dealerships tried to void the warranty if you didnt have them replace the oil filter so someone created a law against stupid stuff like that.
My dealer actually told me this when I asked about putting a cat back on.

Most dealerships have a warranty that allows people to do what they call "air in, air out" mods without any warranty problems. This includes modifying the air intake, air filter, and cat-back exhaust only.

ok, thanks! Last time I had warranty work done, they said i needed a new slave + master cylinder and that the warranty would only cover 1 of the parts for some reason and i would have to pay for the other. I then asked if i had one fixed and it didnt fix the problem if the warranty would then cover the master. The guy was so damn reluctant it felt like beating my head against a wall Turns out it was just the slave anyways and there was nothing wrong with the master I HATE ELM CHEVY!!!

as a dealerhip tech....they cant void a warranty due to a lid, however they can decline a warranty claim due to a lid, ex: check engine light is on, code for the maf or intake air temp and it is because of the lid, the light is on. but they cannot void the entire warranty

You just have to have the right Service Manager. One that doesn't tell them that you put in a shift kit or a TC and gets you a New transmission under warranty.
