Default Cam change on 8.1

Going to be changing the cam in my 8.1 next week or so. And have ????
My Alldata isn't much help.

Can I use the pen magenet to hold the lifter up while swapping cam??

Do I need new lifters?? Are you able to reuse roller lifters???

I need to do a camshaft relearn??

Or what is a good price to have someone do it??
Also anybody know of a good place in minneapolis, mn?? ( if not doing it myself)

You can not just hold up the lifters on that motor. The intake has to come off and you cantake the lifters out. The lifters should be fine to reuse unless you have a million miles on the truck. You should do some sort of tuning if the cam is a good increase over stock. As far as a shop up there Hardcore is in MI they are good to deal with.

No if and but about it the intake has to come off. Its not hard but you will need a tool to undo the fuel lines or pop all the injecters out. The stock lifters will be fine and another thing the grill and ever thing behind it will have to be moved to get the cam out. I didn't have to drop the oil pan ether if you are carefull it will woun't be a probelm. Iv'e done alot of cam changes before but this was my first big block it was a peace of cake started at noon had it done in plenty of time to go crusen that night.

i hear the 8.1 is such an amazing motor it will hold up valves by itself. get that juiced duramax killa goin!
