Ummm.........
I've got more than that in it just for PARTS. Why wouldn't it be worth as much as a STOCK 4th gen with LS1, considering it is in EXCELLENT condition with an LS1 and all the trimmings? I haven't seen any 4th gen cars with an LS1 for nearly that low of a price.

7000-9000 imo like Z06 said, dep on cond. 3rd gens aren't worth too much unless they are full race setups, then you get into the low teens.

My 79 Z28... I've got a fresh new GM cammed crate motor in it, TBI system with Holley Throttle body & Painless harness, freshly rebuilt 4-speed, completely new exhaust (new headers & duals), billet MSD distributor ($$$), all poly bushings, new brakes, fuel system from hell, and what's the car worth?
Probably about $1500 more than I paid for it without all that stuff. :(
Building cars for yourself will never pay back unless the car itself has a 'special' heritage (like a 67 Z28, etc). I did it because it's fun, and because I could. :D So what if they made more Z28's in '79 than they sold Camaros (V6 & V8) in '98. ;)

Well guys, I hate to ruin the party, but I've had a really good day today; the car isn't even done and I've already got 2 offers for it that are both over $11,000+++ ............
The fact that is has a 4th gen engine, a 4th gen trans, a solid rearend, etc. is a HUGE sell point, apparently (which is why the 3rd Gen LS1 conversions are becoming so damn popular!)
There are a lot of people who prefer 3rd gen body styling of the Camaro in particular over the 4th gen (I'm one of them - the only 4th gen Camaro I care for is the SS). And something about getting close to Z06 Vette power for less than 1/3 of the price seems to make a difference, as well. :D
I think it would make a big difference if they were still making F-bodies............ but right now, I think 3rd Gen values are actually starting to go UP. I've noticed the 4th gen F-bodies seem to be holding their value better than the average car, probably for the same reason.
And no offense, but you really can't compare a 3rd gen with a TBI to ANYTHING with an LS1.
Anyway, thanks for the input.
