Default TREX and G5X2/3 CAM Q's!

Im sure this has been went over before, and I have done many searches, but still have no CLEAR answer to these Q's. Can you run a Trex cam on a stock shortblock and heads? How bout the G5X2 cam? How bout the X3 cam?

Thanks fellas!

Yes, all three of those cams can be run on a stock shortblock/heads. You'll DEFINATELY need a top-notch valvetrain setup, however, if you expect your stock shortblock/heads to hold up to these monster lift camshafts.

From what I understand the X3 needs to be the 114LSA, the 112LSA needs the pistons flycutted for room for your valves.

This is incorrect...the X3 on a 112 does NOT require flycutting, UNLESS the heads have been milled OR you are using larger than stock valves. In this case he was asking for a stock headed car. The X3 will fit with no problem, on the stock heads. You will need to upgrade your valvetrain for the high lift cams.

Sorry, my bad, I thought that only applied to the T-REX cam for milled heads required flycutting and the 112 G5X3, learn somthing new everyday!

It is recomended that the X3 112 should have small reliefs. It will fit, but the clearence is on the minimal side. Any float problems and your almost garunteed contact.
