THROTTLE BODY PLATE If the throttle body plate only opens about 75 to 80 percent at wide open throttle, will it cost ET and MPH at the track? Any help will be appreciated.

Re: THROTTLE BODY PLATE Yes. How much? Dunno, but every little bit counts to me. I ensure that all of my TBs open %100. It's just too easy of a fix not to do it.

Re: THROTTLE BODY PLATE Makes you wonder why they dont let the TB open up all the way from the dealership.I made sure that mine opened all the way.Power I dont know what its costing you but its an easy fix.

Re: THROTTLE BODY PLATE Thanks for the reply Colonel and the Bookerman. My best ET so far was 11.72 with the throttle body plate in this condition. If this is so, then maybe there will be a little more in the ET for me. It will be amazing to get more ET with this adjustment. Makes me wonder in the first place how it ended up like this in the first place. A am hoping to add to the ET with the addition of a port and polish TB by Mark Shanner. It appears to be very strong and responsive. As soon as I am able to get to the track, I will find out. Again, thanks for the replies. Re: THROTTLE BODY PLATE You sure would think that the air would enter the intake manifold a little different with the blade horizontal instead of blocking it off on the bottom side some.
It goes along the same lines as epoxying the TB or cutting off the EGR tube that protrudes in the port, or a straight/smooth bellows, and the rounder edges on the intake tract of the LS6 manifold. I know it all has to help but it's difficult to quantify. Maybe I'll test it on the flow bench some day. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Also, I may try to get some smoothe bellows for better airflow since you explain it so well. Thanks buddy. Re: THROTTLE BODY PLATE Don't get discouraged if you seem to loose MPH at the track after such a small mod. There are almost always different race conditions from one day to the next. Density altitude can play a big hand in your power from one day to the next, even from one hour to the next.
