Default Severe body twist......any suggestions?? Dang door has even flew open now twice!!!!

Current mods are in sig along with heads & cam that I'm ready to stick on.....but first I gotta get this suspension worked out.

My car twist like you wouldn't believe and its jsut a matter of time til something breaks so I'm not racing it til I make some adjustments. I've had faster cars that weren't like this so it must be in the setup.

It is twisting so bad that twice last time at the track the drivers side door flew open......that ain't normal

It hits fairly hard and then all hell breaks lose....it loads then unloads.....twist and stretches and then starts spinning. The door flew open on 1.6x 60's (still spinning) and the avg 60's are only 1.8. Seems half my motors power is being used to twist my car.

Now to my suspension......I have neglected it due to not wanting to add wieght but now realize I gotta do something.
I installed hal shocks/springs last week. Putting bmr sfc and lca's with relocation brackets on this coming weekend along with right rear air bag (if i can remember to pay trevor for it )

Will this be enough??? How are stb's?? I used to think they were just for x-crossing but have seen a few drag cars with them lately. I'm willing to do bout whatever it takes to get it going straight.

btw......car has never been wrecked or anything and it does have t-tops.

Has anyone else everheard of the dang door coming open?? Also have about a 3 inch spot on front drivers door/rear front fender where the two are rubbing against one another on launch.

Thanks for any suggestions......i need HELP. Ain't no fun to race like this....its more like bullriding. Again guys...I know my car ain't all that powerful so don't know why its doing this craziness.

Dustin

btw...car weighs around 3250 with me if that has any impact on its little twist and shake action

Well, I never had the door swing open, but SFC's should take care of it

If the car is twisted from the track because of hard launches, you may want to have the car re-aligned at a body shop. After the car is straightened out, then installed the SFC which most likely need to be heavy duty and install a front tower brace. Then add all of the suspension components for great launch control. I am not an expert, but hopes this helps and maybe somebody else will assist.

My buddy who helps me with my car and is a big bracket racer says he has seen it a few times (door pop open)over the last 10 years but its not very common and usually happens with very bad a$$ setups in cars not setup to handle the motor/power .

Said hes never seen it in a car as slow as mine though

Woah, sweet raceweight

I think the planned mods you have will set you up correctly. I run after market sub frames, rr air bag, relocation brackets, and control arms. I ran mid 1.5's with the stock motor and have now run a best of a 1.46 with the addition of a cam and 4.10's

The rr airbag will help remendously with the stock shocks, but you said you have hals. If you do have rear hals just stiffen up the rigth side 1 click more than the left (try 3 and 4 off the bat). In this case the rr airbag will not be necessary. But if you are running it start with 14 or 15 pounds and work your way up.

I cut hte resolution alot so shouldn't take but a sec to load.....if its to big complain and I'll just make a link out of it.

Not a great pic but you can see the damage that its causing in the bright white marks on the edge of the door.

Put the car on a frame machine first to make sure it's straight.Weld in sub frame connectors. The problem is now since you've really flexed the chassis up,the subframes with have to be heavy duty.

Why didn't you put subframe connectors in a long time ago?

holy sheepshit!! did that car originaly have a six banger in it? you tweeked the snot outta that thing. I saw one once bent so bad only three wheels would touch the ground at one time. it was a conversion job, from a six to a hp V8, and the chassis just couldn't handle the torque.
he wound up pulling the engine and slipping it into something that came from the factory with a little more beef. good luck

lol...nope its a regular ol TA. Not sure why its twisting so bad. In the process of doing the suspension work on it and will take it back to the track in a couple weeks when I'm done and see if it's helped any. This crap is killing y et's. Not only am I spinning but I'm wasting power twisting a car

S o hpefully the suspension work will not only get me goin straight and level but also cut the ets a little.
