I believe it will be hard for Terry to catch you because of your skills in suspension setup and tweaking of the car. You share your information while SOME don't. I sincerely believe you will figure a way out to get more out of your car because of more weight reduction and great 60' times. Up the anty, and bring the time down some more. Do some more tweaking, try a little more suspension adjustment for a little more, watch the weather for best time, study the situation and go for it. Your friend and pulling that you go for the record. Kent.

I'm in race mode right now and the money is flying out of my wallet, watch out Scott! I see a 10.88 in my future next time out (~3 weeks).

Sacramento.

The brakes are pretty cool. They have a "strip only" kit that costs $550, and saves ~40#. The "street kit" is just like the strip kit, only it has thicker rotors. It costs $675 and saves ~25#. The "strip only" kit is really tempting, but they say the rotors are really easy to warp on the street.

I'm going down to Sac in either 2 or 3 weeks I haven't decided yet. My best friend lives there if you want to come up....if you dare.

The brakes are tempting. But the hood is easier right now.

Scott and Terry ... bring it to Sac. They just resurfaced the track and had the Lucas Oil series out there last week to season it. Grudge racing on the 15th and 22nd.

What Jantzer worry??

I think Terry might click off a much better time depending on how his changes work together. Only downside of a cam swap and more headwork is also the need to adjust shift points and to tweak AF.

So I would say YES he might dethrone or might spend a ton o' bux to try to do that... I'm sure you and he will be competing all summer.

They are very nice.

U save 20lbs over your stocker.
I'll have them on the car by yrs end.

I've got a hood on the way, and I'm going to pass on the brakes for right now. Glasstek makes a carbon fiber pin on hood that comes in at 12# according to them, and their fiberglass (what I got) is ~18#. Seems heavy to me but VFN is on backorder.

Mike came through with the titan. valves, so project Texas Strength heads/cam is on its way. It's a 236/229 .610 .580 112ls camshaft, 12.5-13:1 cr goal, light weight valves, rod bolts, more port work, etc. The only thing I don't know about is the valve springs. My current comp 941s work _really_ well (I got a lucky set). So I might reuse those, try the comp 918s, or maybe the comp duals. I'm leaning towards starting fresh with the heads so I can sell my current 10 second head/cam combo. Want to make some power Scott?

I really dont know Terry.
I talked to the Shop forman today abut the weights. He just said NO DICE on the race brakes for a street car.So I ditched on that info and went straight for the H/D stuff.

He said 20lbs is TRUTHFUL
Some techs will say 25 but this was from the BIG GUY HIMSELF.I want them but I cant get them til the fall.

I'm calling Glasstek tommorrow.
They told my boss they might make me a 4in Cowl/WS6 hood.If it comes in at 18lbs and was a bolton I might buy one.I think the stock WS6 weighs at least 35 or more?

18# is the pin on. The bolt on is ~30# they said. RE: the brakes. I'd like to hear from someone who has tried them on the street before I decide. If it takes 3000 miles to warp a rotor they are fine for me. If it happens the first time you stop twice in a row, that might be a problem. They are meant to stop from 140mph and drive around the track, so I don't see how a few 30-40mph city stops is going to kill them right away.

Heat will kill them.Dont go race brakes if u wanna drive the car any distance, EG.Over an hr in traffic is a no no.

So what does my stock WS6 hood weigh?
I might get the bolton if its a 20 lb savings?

Get in car, drive to freeway (2-3 stops along the way), drive on freeway 20 miles, get off freeway, drive to work (2-3 stops along the way). I'm wondering if drag race brakes will work for that.

I heard somewhere of an SS Glasstek hood, I wonder if there is any truth to that.

I hope you plan on clearancing the pistons. What? Can't you hang with the STOCK shortblock? Might as well get it re-rung with total seal as well.

Do you have an ETA on the heads/cam? I need a timeline. How about some info. on the titanium valves? Length, diameter, size, & weight. I'm very curious because I know it's the way to go.

That sounds like a pretty radical setup. What if a mild setup out-runs you? I guess I'll really have to get after the car now.

i would get the complete weight of the stock brakes, then subtract 40 lbs from that figure, i would be looking at it that way

it just might be impossible to drop 40 lbs from a brake and rotor change ?

Terry just to give you a somewhat idea on how much the shipping charge will be for the hood. From Glasstek (Ill) to me (NJ)= $89 I'm sure the trucking company is gonna love you

Hopefully this weekend I can get off my *** and start installing my hood. I'll take some pictures of the thickness difference. The pin on is paper thin
