Default I Weighed the Hotrod today!

Lordy is this thing a tank.

The car has both stock style front seats, carpet, all interior panels, stereo, complete dash etc., full exaust, and driven daily.

Street Raceweight w/Me in the car: 3190

Terry, I think you have a little ways to go to catch me. Hahaha....

I can speculate raceweight to be 3100 by just taking off the exaust and taking the passenger seat out. But I've been known to take it a little further if need be. Terry you'll be TOO close at 3200, so....

It's slimfast time: On the agenda next:

F.Glass/CF Hood
F.Glass/CF T-tops
Plywood Hatch (Just might do a F.Glass one)
P/A A-arms
Dynabat
Lightweight brakes.....

If I do all of the above mods and take out the carpet/panels inside, I can see a raceweight of 2850 being totally possible. THAT'S NUTZ!

See you in Houston.

Don't tell Terry all of your secrets!!! To stay ahead of the pack, keep one or two things to your self. From what vendor can you purchase C. F. T-Tops and Hood? How much weight does this save? Your car seems to be very fast at your weight level. If you ever go to Houston to drag your car, please post the occassion, I would drive from Louisiana and witness the event and of course review your car looking for some of them fast secrets especially suspension and some of that fine tunning on the PCM. Jantzer I know at the level you are at sooner or later you may reach a point where it all comes down to weather maybe, study the weather ahead of time and go get that record setting ET. You can do it. Your friend. Kent

Besides, not many are willing to spend the time on their car that I do. I don't know if carbon fiber hoods or t-tops are available for our cars. But I'm working on the t-tops myself and have a friend of a friend that is working on the hood. The t-tops should shed 20lbs+, and the hood will come in around 10lbs pinned down, compared to 45+lbs stock for me.

Another mod I plan is fabricating a Torque Arm that will be significantly lighter than stock. I'm sure there won't be many that can replicate it....and yet I'll shave even more weight.

And of course I can think of some good ways to lose weight in the rear-end department.

I don't mind sharing information, because there are alot of people that have helped me out here and I want to return the favor. I'm not worried about others running 10's with heads/cam etc., in fact I love to see it, as for me, I'm headed for crazy fast territory.

JimmyKash:

I'm not sure I understand your question bud? Are you asking all of my weight reduction mods? I may make a list someday.

Jantzer 98SS,

We are in major weight reduction also. Looking to get the Hot Rod down some to get into the 10's in the summer heat.

Are you going to race this weekend?

Good luck with your goals.

Don't worry Scott I always keep a few things to myself too. Next time out I'll be at a 3200# raceweight, and in a few weeks I'm going to top 460rwhp in a 346 CI motor.

Woah, thats light!

Does the car have: A/C, air bags, headlights, or bumper supports?

Here is a link to a carbon fiber hood I found:
http://www.dgmotorsports.com/asp/pro...&ProcessType=9

I'm not sure if thats what you are looking for though. I think either madman or billingsley can get factory style camaro hoods in carbon fiber too.

Let me know if you find a lightweight ss or ram air style hood would ya?

Coach:

Good luck getting into the 10's. It's a cool goal to achieve. My immediate goal is 10's all summer long through the exaust! I'm in the high 11.1X's to low 11.2X's at 2000ft. DA's. A little weight reduction and a cam swap and I'll be there for sure.

Terry:

I don't think you'll pick up anything from more headwork or a larger cam...but we'll see. Wanna donate that 229 to the Jantzer Foundation.

Mike:

The car doesn't have any of those options. It came that way. That DRM hood is for a pre 98. I have a hookup for the hood already, when I get pics or some more information I'll share it.

Colonel:

VFN makes a fiberglass hatch. If I remember correctly, it's like 15 lbs. I weighed my stocker at 90lbs. The only thing I'm worried about is weight over the wheels. But I'll just go with bigger tires. I'm sure if you can tweak the suspension right, you can get away with it. I'm closing in on your raceweight!

WicketMike:

What is that a Cadillac/SUV?

Wow that thing is light. My non stripped c5 hard top weighs in @ 3150 without me and 3/4 tank of gas. Raceweight of 3370. I wonder if i could take anything out? lol!!

Terry 460 rwhp..I know some guy that has 460 rwhp in his vette and only runs mid 11's @124 in 80 degree weather
Oh yea that was on street tires with poor 1.88 short times

Any idea what a basically stock '00 Z28 would weigh? I'd put her on a diet, but I can't live without the AC amongst other options

Scott you're afraid to swap your heads/cam. Passing you up is a forgone conclusion.

With my brakes, hood, and 12" extensions I'll be in the 10.70s at a real track.
