Help a newb.. Can I do this? AMP: Kenwood KAC-729S
Specs:
POWER RATINGS
Bridged Power Output at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.8% THD): 300 Watts x 1
Maximum Output Power: 600 Watts
Power Output at 2 Ohms, at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.8% THD): 150 Watts x 2
Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 14.4V (20Hz-20kHz, 0.08% THD): 100 Watts x 2
Can I use this amp to run 1- 10" sub and my 4 component speakers.
Sub: 10" Sony Xplod 300W rms... 1100W Peak
Components: 4- Sony Xplod.. 3-way... 6.5" speakers. 50W rms... 220W peak.

Yes, but you will be underpowering everything, and you will need passive crossovers for the sub. (coil) Wire the sub like you would run it bridged, then wire the two sets of speakers per side in series. If I were you, i'd also use 12bd/oct passive crossovers on each 6.5 as well. A better way to do this would be to run the 6.5"s off the deck, bridge the amp to the sub, then buy another amp later for the 6.5"s.

i'm in total agreement with snootch , feed that sub with all power you can get from that amp and look into getting another amp to run the components. this set up will sound way better and you won't lose as much power though heat dissapation and resistance of passive crossovers needed to run everything off of the amp.

the amp should power the components ok . what's the RMS rating of the JBL? the only real rating of the sony sub is the RMS rating ,not the peak ..same goes with the amp. you should also run the high pass feature on the kenwood amp to cut the very bottom end off of the 6.5's ,say 50-60hz , it will make the components less distortion prone and let them live a good long life .
