Default More Horsepower? More Torque

Now I have heard that HP sells cars and Torque wins races. I am trying to get 400 to 450 hp. How can I go about doing this? Should I be aiming at more torque?

All the answers you need can be found by using the "search" feature.

I would tell you what I think, but it will be long and complicated... and this topic has been discussed many, many times before.

Basically, the more torque you make in the higher RPMs, the more HP you will make, and the more you can take advantage of the lower gears.

Can you post a picture of your T/A? I don't think that I've ever seen that color T/A before.

More Torque = more horsepower.

Since the search feature isnt used by anyone anymore (what a sad, sad thing. there's so much info to be found on this site by searching) here is the general used equation that will hopefully help to explain ur question.

Horsepower = (torque X rpm) / 5252

I think thats the formula anyway. Atleast its close. MORE IMPORTANTLY though, it shows that the only way to get more hp is to either get more torque (increase displacement, airflow at low rpm, etc.) or to increase the rpm's. OR BOTH. I reccomend a new cam, or a larger displacement engine. those are about the best ways to make it work.

hp is a measurement of how well your torque is being used as relative to rpms.

that's why a 800rwtq tractor doesn't necessarily have alot of hp.

high hp cars will trap fast regardless of quick ET or not. see (supra)

If everyone used the search button, we wouldn't have a thing to write about.
