Default Tranny blanket for 4L60E

Anyone running one with a 4L60E? I've heard they don't fit without moddifying the firewall....

I don't want to buy one only to find out that it doesn't fit

Maybe they mean the metal trans sheild won't fit? I'd think there's enough room for a blanket, although they raise the trans temp

The standard trans blankets fit fine without any modifications. It's the trans shields that may require some banging for fitting purposes.

If you run a blanket full time on a daily driver, make sure you have a Trans temp gauge mounted to monitor temps properly. The blanket does reduce the airflow over the trans which means slightly higher temps in some cases depending on your converter choice. I was seeing an additonal 10F temp increase after I put it on last summer.

So I mounted one extra B&M cooler in series which took car of that and made for 180F max on hot stop and go construction days on the city streets.
