Default tranny suggestions needed! please help!

I need a tranny! after 9 mos. in my posession, and only 38,000 miles on the car my 4L60E has decided to go belly up. I have never seen such premature tranny failure, but who knows what the previous owner did. Anyways, I have to order a tranny soon, a rebuild or rebuilt tranny will cost me 2500, so I have decided to order a pre-"built" tranny from one of our sponsors, or other sources. Please give me your experiences, good or bad, and any personal recommendations on who and what I should purchase. NO FULL RACE STUFF! , I already have a race car, so this is my daily driver, but I do tend to street race with it if antagonized. I want a tranny that will safely hold about or over 500-550hp, including N2o. (ones that come with a stall converter would be nice!)

p.s. I have been seriously considering the "pure evil" tranny from Speed Inc., so specific info about these would be appreciated.

Thanx!

I got a brand-new GMPP 4L65E from GMPartsDirect.com for around $1800 + shipping. Should bolt right up to where my present 4L60E now sits (in fine condition, thank you very much....just want to sell it while it still is!). I'm putting in a TransGo, Vette servo, and aluminum accumulator piston while it's still in the crate. Maybe a new torque converter too.

I thought long and hard about what tranny to put in my 5800 lb beast, and decided that I couldn't trust anyone better than the General himself - hence my decision. Good luck with yours.

I don't know if the "pure evil" is any better than the ones they were selling a little over a year ago but I killed one of their stage 3s in 7 mos./10k miles. That one was built by extreme automatics, not sure if they're building their own now or not. I just put in my cmotorsports stage 3, it's the hardest shifting tranny I've ever had in that car. don't know about the longevity though, its only been in for 2 weeks, but it has a full year warranty. They are the "racing transmissions" link on the right.

Of course, I can't get that link to work. How did you kill that st.3, was it too much power, or just a crappy tranny.

It shouldn't have been too much power, but it did fail 2 weeks after installing my blower, so it could have been. Cmotorsports phone # is 702 - 798 - 8504

still haven't heard from the shop yet about my tranny, so I would like to hear some more tranny suggestions please.. Especially something nitrous-friendly.
