if your going to do heads and cam definetly get the LSX if your just gunna do bolt ons then ls6. i saw a 18+Hp gain from my LSX. and im a Cam only car. no heads. and this was a 78mm. if you going to be doing a lot of power i would say get the 90mm and 90mm TB. but if not.. get your Stock one ported and put on the 78mm LSX i would say from a stock ported TB and 78mm LSX you will see 25+ RWHP thats just my .02

Thumbs down

FWIW, the $$$ amount of the LSX over the Ls6 isn't worth 1hp and 5lbs of tq. From experience, two people i know who have got them had fit problems. One had severe misfiring due to a manifold leak affecting a few cylinders. Also, they are made out of plastic instead of composit material.

The 90 will still work but probally wont gain you much HP.
You are lookimg at 1300 dollars for that setup.
I would say invest in a rearend or wheels and tires for the track.

is his car is an ls1 manifold... going from an ls1 manifold to LSX you will see a dramatic gain. i saw 18+ horses from mine. which i was very happy with. i might be doing heads sooner or later but im just sticking wit the 78mm. if i were you i would buy the 78 and then later on when i get heads and Cam just get the 78mm one Ported. thats my .02

silverghost has a ton of problems with his lsx, it was warped and then he had a very very hard time returning it under warrenty. he had a hell of a time with it, so good luck.

I was asking a similar thing a few days ago-based on the various responses and people's personal experiences... For my HP/TQ goals, the extra cost of the LSX over the LS6 intake is NOT justified. then again, I'm only looking to put down about 420HP/400TQ N/A when my project is done. you're probably looking at a much higher goal and might need the extra numbers the LSX has over the LS6.

Yeah, CHP has been doing a bunch of dyno tests recently on LS1s and the LSX is only giving around 3-8 HP/ 3-4 TQ on an engine dyno over the LS6... not worth almost $800 IMHO.

Why are you worried about the factory warranty? Go with the 78mm LSX. The LS6 is nice, but the LSX is easier to port for a nitrous system.

The good part about the LS6 intake is we sell them for $360. That's alot less $$$ than the LSx.
As far as hp differences, we've seen a additional 8rwhp with the LSX on a cam only car...

You could always buy a ls6 & sell it when you upgrade... I really think a used ls6 intake sells for $300, so you could always sell it if you decided to go with with the lsx.

It's a hard call between the two...
