Default TR224/112lsa is the Bomb...

I'm really happy with this cam. Took me months of sorting through info to make a decision. This cam with headers is exactly what I was looking for.
The "Cold" Lope is nasty, even through cats. After reaching temperature, it calms to an idle that is still unmistakably "Badass." The first WOT let me know I made a good call on this Cam.
I plan to go with an ORY when I put my Spec II in. Should sound Xtra mean then. The "G-Tech" gave me a 13.4 stock, hoping to make a 12.xxx now.

Thanks Thunder Racing for a fine product, Highly recommended.

P.S. 750 rpm is the perfect idle speed if you like lope...

I might be trading my t-rex cam(if i ever recieve it ) for the TR224. Maybe you can post some sound/video clips of your car? Did you need a tune after installing the cam?

That is a well proven cam. I really like the lope, and that's because I have her idling at 900. Idle at 750 would sound wicked. With my exhaust set-up, it doesn't sound too loud while driving normal, but she screams at WOT. It's very streetable IMO. Have fun with your new found power.

I loved mine when I first got it on stock tune, but now it's not enough for me. I may step up to a TSP 231/237 in the winter

what he said........ spec 3

I had the TR224/224 112LSA cam in my old engine and it is a really nice cam. I personally didn't find it to lope much at all though and was just too tame for me. Doing THAT install again, I would have gone with the TR230/224 111LSA.

Just letting you know now, you will get tired of the new found power and will want more. Just a heads up. Like I said "heads" up.

That is so true. It will just make you want more power. Do you have a gear yet?

I've noticed everybody who's responded has a M6, is this cam not the right choice for an a4, I assume most a4 guys get the 114 lsa but i prefer more midrange power and the lope

Thunder installed the TR224 / 114 in my unit and I am really happy with it. I have the A4 and after several 'in-depth' conversations with the pro's at Thunder, I was convinced that the 114 was the best choice for the auto trans.
The 112 apparently works great in the stick cars but the 114 is optimum for the slush boxes. As for the slight diff. in the lsa, I was advised that it would be barely noticeable...on the other hand, the difference in the idling and drive was be a little harder to live with if I would have gone with the 112 in the auto.
It is sooooo true that cam selection is paramount to the end product. Any time you add a part that leans more toward a 'race or track' item, you are going to have to submit to the manners that item will impart on your ride. There is a ton of info out there on who, what, which, etc, etc, that it can become confusing. Check with the sellers of the cam and be open minded and honest with yourself and them. Decide what you really want, what you can live with (and without) and then install away. I wanted more lope out of my car so when Geoff did the tune he backed the idle down a bit more than he really wanted to. I'm paying for it now as the car hunts for idle after it warms. Sounds cool as heck...but is kicking my *** by the 3rd hour out on the Interstate when I have to sit and idle.
Just my .02
P.S. Rah...Rah...Thunder Racing Cams...Gotta Luv em

I'm happy with my Thunder Racing cam on a LSA of 112. It's a little milder than the TR224 ... maybe this is why I get away with good streetability both on the Interstate and off. The idle is nice, as well. I did a ton of research to get the best cam for my particular goals. The 220 finally 'stood out' as my best choice because I do have a 10-bolt rearend and plan on a torque converter.

After I do a moser 12-bolt, then, I will go waaaaaaaaaayyyy aggressive ... right now, I'm just trying to get the power that my rearend can handle.

Is the 112 from TR going to pass CA emissions on the 224 platform? I have the SPEC 2 and now wish I had forgone the 'advice' and gone with my gut feeling of 3, it feels as though it's not grabbing quite as well after a few passes.
