Exclamation Critique my cam choice

Im looking for something that wont OVERLY adversly affect my gas mileage, possibly keep me smog legal, work well with my mods and after all that said, give me the most power I can get with those guidelines.

So far Im liking the TSP 221/221 .595/.595 114+2 Camshaft combo, I can get it with the proper springs/retainers/pushrods as a kit, and I plan on getting headers & cut-outs at the same time.

I currently have the mods in my sign, the important ones being, the TCI SSF 3500 stall converter, and HPtuners. This is an A4 car, and I just want to know if there are any better cams for what Im thinking than this one, and if this one would give me any issues, such as clearance, etc.

What I would like is approx ~400hp/400ft-lbs and from the playing on computer dyno I think with this cam, nice headers and cut-outs, I can get this.

So please tell me what you think, or if Im out in left field. I appreciate any and all legit feedback.

You're not in left field 221 595 114 should be OK mileage and pass emissions. There are other cams that will work too but that's not a bad choice.

Sounds about right to me. You can probably go up to 224 and still pass smog.

thanks alot for the responses, glad to see i may not be dissapointed. id like to be able to make that kind of power with that combo. so with that kind of lift, but not much duration, im figuring i shouldnt have to worry much about clearance, but there is bound to be some other issues.

The valve springs that come in the kit say they are good to .600" lift. Im not sure if thats pushing the luck of the valve springs (comp cams 26918-16) or manley/patriot perf equivilants. Or should I go with the crane cams double springs and hardened spring seats? Also good to .600"

Or just a cam that will net similar gains, without all that crazy lift... ?

I would be VERY surprised if you got over 370 hp/tq with that set-up. You're gonna need a much bigger cam or heads.
