Default Question about Comp XE 224 114cam

Is this a good cam to go with. What is the specs on it? Does it have a nice lope to it and can you run stock heads on it? Is anyone in here running this cam in there A4.

The XER is a nice cam and has a basic lift of .581. Good lope to it, noticeable but not too bad. It's a pretty strong runner as well on the street and the strip. I had this in my M6 and liked it. I ran S2 heads with it. You could run stock heads as long as you upgrade the springs and possibly use some hardened push rods. Video clips of it are on my homepage.

Nice working cam <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Excellent power range for street drive cars. You should think of adding some stall in an A4 car though. You also may need some tuning for idle and driveability.

Good luck,

i have it in my car, except its a 112 LSA. i like it alot-really woke the car up. it will prob need a stall later on, but for now its great. u definitely need some tuning with the 112, but i dont know about the 114 on a A4. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Where is the best place to get it. I'm getting 32-3600 stall but I can't make up my mine. What is the difference between the 114 and the 112 LSA. They have the same Duration and Lift but the lobe Separation is different. Hey Derty your car sound really good.

The 114 LSA will idle a little better, pass emissions easier, have a flater power band and peak 200 rpm higher.

i'd get 114 for the auto...

XE's have the .563 lift right? XER is the .581?

I love my 224 114 comp cam... LS1speed has the hook up <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I have that cam installed and love it so far. Not to bad on the street and I have no problems idling or the such. Speed Inc. is where I got all of my stuff done. Give them a call.

if you can't make up your mind on a 112LSA or a 114LSA then get a custom grind on a 113LSA and have some characteristics of both. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

What are the opinions on this cam or the TR224/224/.114lsa/.561 for a C5/6spd.

????
Any help would be appreciated, I would like to keep some kind of idle quality and no computer work. Or am I dreaming???

I was actually surprised how smooth it is. It has a little bit of lump at idle but not bad at all. As for tuning, I don't know. My car was already tuned for the other cam so I am sure it was more ready then a stock car for the TR cam. To ge the most out of the cam, you will also want to raise your rev limiter.

lope at idle just depends on where you have your idle set... Mine sounds like stock at 975rpms cause I want it that way and its wayyyy better on startups!

Now at 800-850 is sounds like the car is gonna cut off and on <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

114 or 112, if you have you idle low enough its gonna sound pretty close <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
