I discovered three of the wheel studs and lug nuts are stripped on my front pass wheel. Thank God I found it the "easy" way instead of losing a wheel driving down the damn road...

One of the last places that worked on my car and took the wheels off must have put them back on with an impact gun and stripped them. There are metal shavings and strips everywhere.

How do I fix ? How do the wheel studs come out of the wheel ?

I can pick up new studs and lug nuts and replace them, just need the scoop on how they're removed from the wheel... Please help !

easy to do... no biggie.. i break them all the time changing the tires from street to strip

if you want you can get a set of ARP wheel studs that are stronger than stock..if not just go to your local auto part store and pick up a few..

to remove them.. just take a big hammer and it the crap out of them in the front. they will come out the back...
take the new one and push it in from the back...now it will not be in all the way.. take some washers that are big enough and put them on the tip, take one of your existing lugs and use it to bring the stud in all the way.

I just wanted to make sure before banging the crap out of them with a hammer, although it will be somewhat therapeutic I think.

I was always afraid to beat on the hubs while on the car.

4 bolts and the hub comes out and then you can get it in a vice and beat against the flange and not kill the hub.

Maybe it's just me ... but whacking that hard on a bearing surface is not a good thing ...

I'm with Mitch on this. I say take the Hub off first.

Too late...

Doesn't seem to have caused any problems, we'll see after it's back on the road... 2 or 3 solid whacks each with a framing hammer and they came out the back.

I just picked up replacement studs at AutoZone - about a buck each.

I'll have to hit up a GM parts counter tomorrow for lug nuts, AutoZone doesn't carry them...

check your rack and pinion , i did this also and damaged it I had all kinds of play after beating the stud.

Just wanted to post a followup -

5 new studs and 5 new lugnuts are on the car and it's fine. Whew !

I did have the front driver side wheel on the ground and wheels turned straight when I knocked them through to stabilize the hub while banging them out. No noticeable play in the steering or other problems. Also touched up the paint on my caliper while I had it apart.

Drives fine again, thanks again for the help fellas.
