Wow, that truely blows. I just had a head gasket go out on me, but my car didn't die like yours did. I was able to actually drive it down the the mechanic. That's some bad feelings comming out of that story. Good Luck man.

Last time mine did that, I had a slow headgasket leak.
Filled up a cylinder with water overnight and it couldn't crank over.

Don't crank anymore or you could bend a rod or more likely just damage a rod bearing.

water doesnt compress... If water is in your engine then you may have pretty much snapped your internals. (Been there done that)

Sounds like you need to do a complete tear down. there might be more damage in there.

Did the spring break on that valve? What caused the valve to bend?

Dude, there is bound to be more damage internally. Pull the pan, and check the rods and crank journals for scarring. How does a valve just break? What kind of springs are you running to pull a valve up with enough force to snap it? I have never heard of this before.

Was there any noise from inside before this? Sounds an aweful lot like you spun a rod bearing - but you typically will hear the signs of that coming.

The valve probably broke after the rod let loose and smashed into it. Just a guess.
