Drag Racing Tech - 01 GT vs me in the 00Z28

I guess someone was unhappy that i flamed some fellow Mustang guys on our own flameboard. I was defending the LS1's power and that these guys have their heads so far up their *ss's they can't see straight. Well he get's upset and takes it seriously so he challenges me to a race at Englishtown, NJ in October. He has a 2001 Mustang GT 5 speed with just a cold air kit, and a catback, and he runs 13.4. He says he will be in the 12's with just those 2 bolt ons. I told him he needs bolt ons because an auto LS1 is right around that mark stock. So I will be putting my Cobra project on hold, and will be practicing racing the Z28. I have never ran that car, but i am a decent driver. I will be putting on a lid, and doing the free ram air mod. Will i see any real gains, or do i not need to do that in order to beat the guy? I am shooting for a 13.0 by october.

You should be able to squeeze that 13.4 in your sleep with a stock Ls1, if you have a 6 spd. You will see a big improvment on throttle respone when you add the lid and free ram air mod. Definatley worth it! Smoke his sorry Ford Ass!

You mentioned ET streets.
They may be overkill in that, Nittos will be plenty for you "damn torque management".
Also, dont spray, no need to, spraying a 100 shot should put you in low 12's but I would recommend this setup.

That alone should get you low to mid 12's
Eventually you might want midlength or longtube headers but I am assuming your trying to stay in your budget.
I have seen 2 tenths with the lid, one tenth with the free ram air, up to 6 tenths with a stall converter!!!!! some people claim more <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> , I guess it depends on the stall, Nittos should get you 2-3 tenths, Headers 3 tenths and 3 mph, it all adds up.

The thing is, its my g/f's car, and the jackass called me out to race it. So i dont want to add mods on a car that is not mine. She gave me approval for the NX kit. It is free. I decided not to use et streets. So i am doing the free ram air, the lid, cutout, and 50-100 shot of nitrous. The car is an a4, and i have yet to race it. However i have until october to practice, and i am putting my cobra project on hold.

Yes make sure to come with the bottle because you know that he is.Also pull out the spare tire and jack and the front passenger seat front swaybar etc....anything you dont need for that run.Good luck.
