Lingenfelter Heads??? Good or bad
I have already used the search button.
I am getting h/c done on my car and my mechanic was recommending LPE LS6 heads for 2k.
1. is this a good price?
2. are they worth it/ I like the warranty?
3. how do thier #'s compare to other heads?
4. How are they under the curve compared to other heads?
5. how would they work with a TSP 231/237
I have Kooks LT's and ORY and TCI 3500 sitting in the garage waiting to go in at the same time. My goal is over 400rwhp. Budget is an issue.
Thanks all.

Trust me, if he was turbo'd, he'd be putting down way more than 435 to the wheels. I'm sure he has just heads/cam.
In the April Hot Rod magazine, wasn't the fastest H/C ls1 a car with lingenfelter heads/cam?

Better find out much the core charge is on those if they're LS6 heads. Otherwise, that $2000 might actually be $3000 since you don't have a set to send in.
Personally, I think you'd be just as well off with a Stge2 LS1 head for around $1500. Should work just as good with the cam you're planning on running.

completely off topic, but jay...i'm originally from mahopac, ny
i was always under the impression u wanted a lower compression for boosted motors.... but if u really wanna get a great head for boosted motors, wait for those afr 225's to come out...they're designed for it

I have the GM performance parts ls6 heads on my 99 Camaro. They are done by LPE,no core charge ,they are fully CNCed and have 02 hollow stem valves and 02 springs. The only bad thing with these heads is the lift limit of .580 due to the valves and springs. My car made 395 hp and 387ftibs at hte time it was an auto with a stock converter and a 224 c1 cam from MTI.

What's up BLU,
GMPP CNC'd LS6 heads are great performers.
You can't go wrong with them, and 2k is what you have to pay for them.
I think they come with LS6 springs, so you'll need to upgrade the springs to run a TSP 231/237 cam if that's the case.
If you need to save a few hundred dollars, there's plenty of Stage II 5.3L or 6.0L heads ported by the vendors on this board that will perform similarly.
Good luck!

Hey Carlos,
No I'm not planning on running a turbo. Mabye way down the line I might spray it. The heads are from Dan at Kelly. They are with no core charge. From what it sounds like I think they might be a really good investment. For a couple hundred dollars I get the nice 1 year warranty for the money.
Thanks all for the input.
Dave

We just recently got back a large shipment of LS6 core heads that we had Lingenfelter CNC port. The program we ran is the same one used no GM's head. The realy cool part is we didn't cut the heads down any so you can set the chamber to any size you want. They are fully assembled with 02' ls6 springs and valves. If anyone is looking for a set I can get you into them for a good price, and NO core charge!!
