Sunday at TAD I ran the Hot Rod with the new 5.14 gears and the 30x9x15 M/T slicks that are made for a stick Hot Rod.
No new best but I was back down to the low 7.20's with 1.52 60fts.
I had very good reactions times. Here they are in order of the rounds.
1st round .500
2nd round .504
3rd round .506
4th round .502
5th round .497(other guy red lighted 1st)
6th round the final .502
I lost the final with a .502
I broke out on a 7.22, ran a 7.21 with a 6. The other guy ran a 7.46 on a 7.47 with a 4. Damn it. maybe next weekend.
Thanks to Thunder Racing and Madman Racing for all there help.
Look out on Nov. 2!
Way to go Coach,
I was scanning the results on the TAD sight last night, and saw you had scooped up some more points!

Congrats Coach, that new tire/gear combo sounds wicked. Was it spinning at all?
Gator I have a few videos of Coach when he was in LA. Check out my site @ http://www.fryrice.com/may2002.htm

Tell us more about the setup?
Seems like it should 60' harder, you coming out at 5500 or higher?

Those reaction times are awesome!! You sure like to play with fire though, I like to aim for .520 lights in bracket racing so I don't end up redlighting too easily. Last weekend I made the final in our car club's bracket racing, with reaction times in the .530 to .580 range throughout eliminations. I redlighted in the final with a .470 though.

Sounds good Coach. So I take it you like the new 30x9 slicks? Did you end up using a radial slick? I know you were having trouble locating tires.
I want to go to a 30" tire, but still don't think I've cut away enough rear bumper to fit it. I think a 29x11 Hoosier may be the perfect solution.

Larry,
Thanks man. I am starting to move up a little in the points race. I sure want to go the Braket World Finals in Oct. We sure need to go to the races together, let me know when your headed to the track.
gator's99TA,
no pic's this weekend. She was was pulling the wheels about 2 feet off the ground. It was way cool.
Justin,
Thanks bud. The new combo sure was sweet. No spinning when I droped the tire pressure to 10.5 pounds of pressure.
Pro Stock John,
I have all BMR sup. Moser 12 bolt with 33 spline axles, a spool with 5.14 gears. Hals all around. M/T 30x9x15 slicks on 10x15 Weld prostars. 6 point cage. McCluod steel statard clutch, master & slave, light weight carpet, front pass seat and back seat removed. Momo steering wheel. B&M shifter, traction control removed, power steering pump removed, cruise control removed, front sway bar removed. K-member, A-arms, front and rear bumper supports removed. 26x3.5x15 Goodyear front runner on Weld prostars. I have Thunder/GTP stage 2 heads with a Thunder 230/224 11la cam, Forged Oliver rods and forged JE pistons, Thunder ported Throttle body. Hooker long tubes. Thunder custom y-pipe with a flowmaster muff with a 4 inch turn down at the rear end. Her weight is 3,400 pounds in full race weight, with me in her and a half of a tank gas. Damn, I think thats it.I have never typed that out before.
I lanuch her at 6,500 rpms and shift her at 6,800rpms.
I also think that she should 60 ft better.
Brian at Madman may go out to Sealy this weekend to look at the Hot Rod at the track.
Patman,
Thanks, You have to cut killer lights at TAD or you will be on the trailer. Just ask Trevor D. He has raced with me there.
George,
No, I did not go with a radial slick. They don't work well on a stick Hot Rod. I went with a M/T 3066st 30x9x15 slick and yes I did like them very much. I think that I found the last pair in the country. I found them at Summit Racing. It is very hard to find Sliks for a M6 Hot Rod. Good luck with your Hot Rod. Keep me posted.
Thanks to all you guys. I just love to Drag Race. I am at the track every weekend Bracket Racing. Seat time is the key to being a very good Bracket Racer. So you boys go to the track and race would ya.
Later,
Coach

I hope Brain will help me out some.
I think that I should be in the 1.4's also.
I was really hoping to get the Hot Rod down into the 10.90's in the summer heat.
Iam not into all the, wait untill the cool weather and your Hot Rod will fly BS.
No flames here, I just think you need to run fast in the summer. Hell, it's when all the big time racing happens anyway.

Reaction times are awsome. I like to bracket race my M6 and usually cut between .520-.570 lights. That's great but I've been drag racing for 35 years and I've never seen anybody cut six sub .506 lights in a row with a stick car and only one be a redlight. I would like to brag on you to some of my buddys but I would like to be able say I saw the timeslips myself.
