a friend of a friend has the car, already know the owner has probably been a little rough with it. rear end is making noises and will probably have to be rebuilt (its at 80k miles), and its close to time for a new clutch.
However, my concern is... I have limited stick experience. i've recently fondled the stick in a rx-8 and a old lotus. All parts in this camaro seem stock.. when shifting, using the clutch and engine off it is quite loud. 1-3 are fairly easy to get into, but it seems like I can feel the linkage binding or dragging a little. 4-5 are somewhat better, and 6th feels completely different. No snick-snick getting into gear, less a feeling of dragging something than a constant resistance to go into 6th gear (and rather difficult to find).
Is this anything to worry about? Maybe i'm paranoid, but some of this felt worse than a lotus trannie i fondled a few weeks ago with blown syncro's on 3rd and 4th. if it wasn't for 6th I'd just guess maybe a linkage was out of adjustment but..
Also, is there anything else I should watch out for in a used t56?
