4.10s top speed n gas mileage
Hey I was thinking about getting gears and I wasn't sure whether to get 3.73s or 4.10s, so I was wondering if anyone with 4.10s could tell me how the gas mileage was and if they still had a reasonable top speed. Also what do you think the best kind to get is. Thanks Kyle

I love my 4.10's Just broke it though hitting second on the street.
Anyway 23mpg and 2k @70, just about the same as my A4 98 T/A in final gear. Definitely a good gear with a big cam

I just went from a 3.42 to a 4.10 in my ECSB truck and I filled up before getting the gears installed and even though I did baby it for a little over a 100 miles I actually got 1.5 mpg better! I just filled up a new tank and will be driving normal for me(which is crazy everywhere I go!) and I actually think it will stay the same. As far as top speed I havent even tried to go up there yet but on the 1/4 miles my trap speed dropped from 86-87 to 85! I love my 4.10 setup and I went with US/Strange gears and I have basicly no whine at all only at speeds above 60 and only when I barely touch the gas and even then it could be mistaken for the new tire I put on!

i think you guys are getting more mileage because the odometer is counting more miles than your going. when you change the gearing the tires are turing more which means more miles. i was thinkng the same thing i was getting better mileage but i a fried reset his odometer the same time i did and went for a dirive and his shoed 4.2 miles less.

I got about 20mpg w/ 4:10s and M6 when I had an NA h/c setup as long as I kept my foot out of it...was good for 160+ w/ same setup...I drive 600+ miles/wk and would have no prob recommending 4:10s

I drove to Dallas and back before and after my 4.11 install. Mileage was within 1 mpg both way (approximately 22 going up, ~21 coming back). Driving style was very similar, just slightly more aggresive going up because coming back I was breaking in, but these were both 90% highway miles. Speedo was recalibrated too so that doesn't factor in.

This is correct, and the only reason I use a Hypertech programmer right now.
