Default 275-40-17 on C-5 Wheels?

Hello all,
I'm contemplating going to C-5 wheels, (17x8.5), and 275-40-17 tires. Is that a workable combo? Are the 275's too wide for a 8.5" rim? Now, how about a 315-35-17 on a 9.5" wide C-5 wheel on the rear? Thanks for the inputs. - Tom

I could be wrong, but I think the C5's came with 275 40's up front. As for 315's on a 9.5, that will work as well

the wheels r 17 x 8.5 and 18 x 9.5 ... unless they r replicas which may be any size... i would put a 245/45 on the 8.5, and a 285/35x18 on the backs

they will work. u can go as high as u want (upto 315)... but there may be a risk lol. Id suggest 285/295's in the back and 245/265's in the front.

It depends on whether you are going for cornering performance or just looks. I'd put 245's on the 8.5" wheels and 275's on the 9.5's, although 265's would be even better, just harder to find. Or you could just put 255's on all four, then you could rotate them by dismouting from the wheels.

You can get a 315 on a 9.5" wide wheel, IF they are Nitto 555R's, since they arent as wide as other tires. Any other 315 on a 9.5" wheel is a BAD idea. It could kill you, or others. And you will have a hell of a time finding anyplace that will install them.
