Default What do I need

I just completed the mods in my sig. I know the rearends are weak in these cars, I was also thinking for changing gears. The car is 99.9% street. My stock gears are 3.42 I think. I am trying to decide between 3.73's or 4.10's but leaning towards the 4.10's. Can I get away with just replacing the cover or do I need to go to a 12 bolt or 9inch? I keep reading about guys breaking the teeth on the gears, is that because of the weak rearend? I was under the assumption that gears are gears. Am I right? I am very new to this so any info would be helpful

If the car is going to be on street tires most of the time then u can go with 4.10's and take care of the rear end. If u have the money for a 12 bolt or 8.8 rear end then save ur self the headache and make it right. My rear end broke with only 392rwhp and 315's nittos on the back. Oh by the way it broke on the street too. M6's are harder on the rear end than Autos.

I say go with a 12 bolt and 4.10s, you will loose a little power, but it will be a great rear and gear for tairing up the streets, and you wont have to pay for building a 10 bolt, then blowing it, and then getting a 12 bolt anyway. do it right the first time.
and if you where ever to hang out with us, the car would be at the track!!!hehe
