Push rod Question
I just changed my valve springs and found that I had 4 push rods bent. So after replacing them I went down the road and got into it a little bit and my motor started shaking alittle so I took off the valve cover and checked the push rods again and found one that was bent. Do anyone know why my pushrods keep bending so easily. I did not shift over 5500 rpm and have brand new valve springs. What is the problem here?

Do you have adjustable rocker arms? How are you torquing them down? You should turn them until there is no play between the push rod and the rocker arm then go 3/4'th of a turn after that.
And are you sure the push rods are the correct length?

Um I beleive that on our LS1 motors w/ hydraulic lifters you just put a little red loctite on the rocker bolt and torque it to 22ft lbs, then flip the motor 180 and check the torque again. No clue about your pushrods though unles something else is broke.

I torqued at 22ftlbs as listed in service manual. I bought the stock LS1 push rods from Chev dealership so they should be the correct length. Do you guys think it could be the timing chain being it might have to much play in it?
