Installed my delay box...
I installed my "borrowed" K&W delay/crossover box today. Everything works like it should. The only PITA was wiring up another separate relay for the Harlan 2-step, since it's activated with a ground, and the XBRAKE output on the box is +12v.
I still need to do a little "fine tuning" on the ABS plastic bezel I made to fit around the face, but here's a picture of it in the car.

It could almost pass for some cheesy stereo. Maybe that's what I'll tell anyone who asks "What is that?"

Re: Installed my delay box...
LMAO!
I know of another dash that looks remotely familiar to that George .
the delay box looks sweet though. I'm a doofus though. Does this thing allow you to program an amount of delay from when you release the t-brake button , that the t-brake actually releases? Did that make sense? Please edumacate me .

If I may jump in here and give my 2 cents.
Yes, Larry it allows you to go off the top blub on the tree with the right amount of delay.
You can also put some numbers in to slow the reaction of the Hot Rod to the light.(Bottom blub racing).
One other thing is if you have a cross-over box, it gives you two shots at the tree. Going off the other guys light(if he is slower) and going off your light. The cross-over box takes the best of the two lights. The bad thing is if the best light is red well you know what happens.
I hope this helps.

Re: Installed my delay box...
Coach pretty much summed it up...
This is a crossover box, but only wired for single input, so I'll just be taking one shot at the tree...

Does it "sense" when the tree is coming down? How does it know who's light is best?
You roll up and stage. Hit footbrake to stop car. Hit transbrake and mash gas and then...release transbrake button/switch but the delay launches you when it senses the tree is right?

Re: Installed my delay box...
looks good George, you needed something to take up the blank space in the dash, and why not, a delay box looks at home there

Especially handy if you're using the box as a crossover, and your opponent has a slower dial in. The two trees coming down at different times can mess you up. With a crossover/delay box, you're letting go of the button as soon as you see yellow. The box does all the thinking.

I understand it in my head, but I can't find the right way to put it out in simple words...
You have a standard delay in the box, kind of like a default. Let's say it's exactly one second. That means there will be a one second delay from the time you release the button to when the tranny brake is released. Now, throw a crossover in the mix. You are dialed in 9.00, and your opponent is 10.50. There is now another 1.5 seconds of delay, added to your initial 1 second. If you're taking two shots at the tree, the box knows that there is a 1.5 second difference between the two green lights on the tree. It will calculate the better reaction, since there will be a difference (from that 1.5 second number) of when you hit the button (or buttons, as most boxes can be configured for single or dual inputs).
Confused yet?

Re: Installed my delay box...
Crazyquick,
The blubs Iam talking about is the 1st one of the three that comes down after you stage. With a delay box you can let your transbrake button go when you see the first blub come on. To get a good reaction time you add the delay into the box to let the transbrake go when the last blub comes on. It takes a little practice to get the delay just right.
Now with a crossover delay(you put in his/her dail in and then your dail in into the box) you can let your transbrake button go when you see the other guys 1st light come on and then press in and hold the button untill your 1st light comes on, then you let the button go again, hence this is getting 2 shots at the tree.
Remember that the box can't tell if you have red lighted or not. It just gives you the better reaction of letting the button go. All the big time bracket racers(in top ET) use this type of box.
I sure hope this helps clear things up for ya.

Sorry George,
I just got home from football practice and just started to respond to the confusion about the box. When I started to type your post had not be posted yet. Sorry about that.
I understand what you are talking about.
