Default guys with heads and big cams, what lifters are you using?

i have all boltons heads and the g5x2 cam. i was thinking of loosing my comp r lifters, all the preload problem stories make me wonder if i should keep them. is there any other lifters that work as good with less problems. i have stock rockers and would like to keep them(if i can). what are you guys using?thanks, mike c.

IMHO the only lifters I'd install are the GM stock lifters are the Comp 850 stock replacement lifters.. I've heard too many horror stories of people using the Comp "R" lifters and trying to achieve the correct preload. Btw.. I'm still running stock GM lifters after 20k of aftermarket cams without a single problem.

It depends on what springs you use. With my stiff 977's i went with comp r's because i think the springs would have collapsed my stock lifters.

Stock Is the way to go especially if you are doing the work yourself. If you had a top shop doing it they should be able to shim correctly for the comp r`s . I just wouldnt mess with them unless i had adjustable rocker arms.

It's just a TR230, but I'm using Comp 850-16 also. Jay at Absolute Speed told me that the Comp R's were not necessary and that alot of folks have issues with setting them up.

we are probably going to use schubeck lifters in our 408 ironblock. the cam has some pretty aggressive specs for a hyd. roller. the schubecks' are a bit pricey though.

I have PP LS6 "style" heads and 231/237 cam, and run the OEM lifters. No problems so far.
