Unhappy 4l60e going ?

I am having problems with the 2-3 shift at the track. 1-2 is 'ok' but does not seem right. On the 2-3 the cpu seems to be calling the shift, but it takes a while for it to happen. Sometimes worse/bad than prev run, but then next is not so bad. When it does shift, it is soft, and graphs as a radius instead of a sharp via efi live.
I am assuming the line pressure is bleeding off somewhere ? I have stock tranny paramaters sans the shift points via ls1 edit. I looked at another guys ls1 edit file that was out that day and compared just to double check this. Converter is Yank SS3800 which I just installed this winter along with a cooler. I believe trans is stock, but not sure. Car has 60k on it.
Does this sound familiar to a bad tranny ? I left the track this morning and did not race b/c I did not want to hurt the converter. Thouhgts ? Ideas ?

Thanks for any input here....

BTW: I have efi live files I can e-mail if anybody might help shed some light.

Sounds familiar. That is how my fully-built 4L60-E died after 26k miles of torture. It's the same problem sshawk1 is having:

ahhhh, the infamous "clutch packs" issue. watch your temps and check your fluid, should start turning dark

Go TH400 and dont look back!!!

Thanks for the replys.

The fluid did seem a tad darker when I checked it at the track this weekend. I will check it against new stuff when I get home. It also seemed 'stronger' smelling.. Just like normal trans fluid, but stronger than normal.

Mean WS6: You do not like your trans now ? I was thinking in the direction of a trans fom ls1speed. Any other recomendations ? I really want to keep OD. Car is street/strip 60/40. I am running n/a now, but may want to get a trans that will hold some boost....

If you are to go with a new 4L60e ya need to look into FLP's.

Also look into Pro-Built in CA and of course Rossler. Level 10 in NJ should also be considered. I've talked with dozens of tranny shops in the last few days and these seemed to be the best.

Thanks for the reply's

I sent it out to FLP today. It was a hard decision. I did talk to a few reputable places. Carl @ Rossler, etc. Timing, and location - sadly - had something to do with the decision.

I will report back to this thread after initial track runs. Anybody feel free to ask how it is working out for me a few months down the road. (search)

Hmmm....lately mine has been touching the rev limiter on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift. I have the rev limiter set at 6500 and the shift at 6300....

It doesnt "bang" the limiter...just brushes it...feels like ~2 misfires, then it shifts....

I went with Rock-On in Texas. Dave took the time to answer all my questions....daily It is shipping today...I'll let you know how it goes but he wouldn't ship it until he felt it was RIGHT on his tranny dyno
