Really not exciting news at all.
I wonder how well they can reign in the torque steer on something like that, and if the V8 weighs more than the 3800?

Between Magnasteer and the fact that the GTP uses a one legger diff torque steer is a non-issue. If they put in a limited slip things could get ugly. However GM is about the only car maker that can almost completely eliminate torque steer. Drive a FWD V-8 caddy. You'll get next to none. Try that with an Acura..
The 4t60E (HD) will not hold against this motor unless it is SEVERELY torque managed.
I have owned a 2000 GTP since it was new. 46,000 miles later and not much more than a 3.4in pulley and the trans iwouldn't hold up well to one more bit of output...The TM is so bad on my car that it falls flat on it's face between gears.
The newer GTP with the more efficient blower is posting times almost identical to those of the previous gen cars. This is due to TQ management to help the weak kneed 4t60 transaxle live.
They cannot fit the 4t80 from the cadillacs. They will have to move to the newer 5 or 6 spd transaxles that are on the horizon.

What do you think of putting the Intense Racing 4T60E behind a 408 or 427 powered GTP. It's holding well in Scott Cook's 10sec GP. TQ Management shouldn't be a problem for Charles@Digital Horsepwer. He's excellent at all the PCM programming that has been needed. I wonder how bad of a swap or conversion it would be, into the pre-2003 models. I know my buddy would love to try that in his '01 GTP.

Those 10 and 11sec cars w/intense transaxles see next to NO street time.On the track they seem to hold OK.Mix in some hard treet driving on a fairly regular basis and I think they'll go down.

We're going to find out later this year (about October) if they'll go down. I've got an '01 GTP and a 383 forged stroker head/cam LS1 going in with the Intense 4T65E-HD Intense unit with LSD and 3500 stall converter (FWD). The 3800 I've got in it now is 304 FWHP and its my daily driver (no torque management) and no torque steer on the stock trans with Intense LSD. The set up has 15,000 hard miles and 15 track runs on it and shows NO problems whatsoever. The turbo for my 383 is coming in April 2005. Wonder how that'll work? .
Have fun, guys.
BTW, the aluminum LS1 is 15 lbs heavier than the iron 3800. <chuckle>

I've been a member there since '01 and rarely post also. I'm under the same name there. I was able to go to the '01 GPG in Kansas, great time. I've also installed 2 of those transaxles in daily drivers. Granted, niether are 11sec cars, but they are 12sec cars and holding up well as far as I've been told. I guess time will tell, should be interesting.

I'll do that, Chad. It'll either be a brag story about what a beast it turned out to be, or a long sad story about how big a bag of broken parts I have to recycle! <hoot> <hoot>. The goal is 11's this year, 10's next on a daily driver. We'll see!
BTW, here's a pic of GM's version in a FWD Impala (at least I think I attached it correctly)
