Default Hey Tony

We haven't heard about your car in awhile.. How did the dynatech headers work? Did your MTI 434ci motor blow up yet? Historically when we don't heard from you it means your doing a rebuild.

Default Re: Hey Tony

I blew the motor up into tiny pieces, some of them hit the moon! It left a crater in the ground about 2 feet deep, and the car is totalled.

-just kidding

I'm in the process of pulling the heads off, the car has been sitting for about a month now with no work done to it. We installed ARP head studs when the headers were installed (anticipating higher cylinder pressures from..... ) and we reused the head gaskets. Unfortunately, one didn't seal properly and I have to replace it, so I'm going to just replace both while I'm at it. I pulled the top end last Saturday, and hope to go back and finish this week. Not alot of time lately to mess with the car due to work, but this weather is getting nice and I'm motivated again.

No rebuilds this time, the next major upgrade will be a solid roller camshaft and possibly a 10# enhancement

Oh yeah, and I have to install the new SLP radiator.

Did you ever figure out why your car was having crankcase problems, and what did you do to solve them?

I plan on hooking the stock PCV system back up, with an inline oil catchcan. Problem should be solved. My engine had no PCV system, and those breather filters kinda sucked.

We also have not dyno-tuned the car since the new exhaust was installed. It pulled 501 rwhp thru the quiet 3" SLP dual-dual catback, but only 510 rwhp with the cutout. I'm guessing the air/fuel went wacko with the open cutout. I was at 525 rwhp with the old FLP headers, with a good tune. I'm hoping for 535-540 once it is all tweaked out.

I have custom layered metal head gaskets. These can be reused a few times in most cases.

I think I just told you a shitload above.

Should I take some photos to satisfy your doubting mind? LOL! You are more than welcome to fly out to Houston, go to MTI, and check out my car for yourself.

It's pretty amazing what a couple of bottles of block sealer will do for a leaking block.

It worked too. Same guy had a lawnmower blade in his engine too. Seriously.

Tony, I'm a rookie......but not with the Cometic gaskets. make sure the center piece didnt move out of its slot in the middle layer of the gasket. Mine did that and leaked big time. I have reused mine either 3-4 times now and as long as i installed the gasket properly, it doesn't leak. i do clean them and spray some copper spray on them before reinstalling per Cometic. Good luck!

I took the day off from work and am about to head to the shop to complete the gasket swap. I will be using new gaskets this time, of a different type (non-reusable). Maybe I can be back on the streets terrorizing this weekend, we are supposed to have some nice weather!
