Drag Racing Tech - Shootout Gossip....SAM Camaro coming to Shootout with Bowling Green engine.....

Joe Kizzire

I heard a rumor was being circulated by a well known person own this site that Judson was coming to the Shootout with a complete C5-R motor sheetmetal intake and all. I talked with Judson this morning and it ain't happening.
He's bringing the same 418 inch engine that he brought to BG. He's getting a 10 point cage installed and the car is going to weighing close to 3400 lbs..

So the individual that's spreading the rumors really don't know what he's talking about. Of course most of us already know that.

Also the person that is doing this has an agenda. To discourage certain people from attending the race thinking they are out gunned. If you will take a little time to think about it you'll figure it out.

I think its safe to say a TON of us are still showing up even if we feel we are "outgunned". Like it was stated in the other thread, this is just to have FUN.

Threads like this do not promote FUN.

Hey Joe, I expect Gordon to surpass my ET on his next visit to a track. He might even kick it down a bit more until I get my car back on the road, not sure when that will be.

Glad to see more 10-second 6-speeds out there!

I don't know what is going on here but I just wanted to say something. If we are ever gonna have any kind of GM efi series..once a year race or whatever we need to stop trying to kill it before it starts. Seems evertime something like this tries to get started people want to bitch and moan about their car doesn't fit in the class they want. I know that thunder and the people helping in the orginazation of this race talked to alot of people and didn't just come up with the rules out of the top of their head. I know they were trying to set it up for the massses to be compeditive and not just certain cars. Maybe next year...IF THEY GET THE CAR TURNOUT THIS YEAR...can make more classes to let everyone be in a class where they can compete on a little more even playing field. But for this year we need to bite the bullet and come race..win or loose...outgunned or top dog..we need to come support this event. Many people went to the NFRA event feeling that they didn't have a chance but went anyway....many people stayed at home. I afraid that if this happens again it will be the death of any future GM EFI(f-body) events. If someone is out there talking down this because they feel they can't win their class...please rethink your possition and just enjoy the event. I'm gonna get my ass handed to me in my class(modified street 6 speed)...and enjoy it...heheeh. This year can be a learning year and changes be made for next year but if no one showes...there won't be a next year. So..come race..enjoy the event..watch some fast cars and drink some beer. Thats what I plan on doing.

Man I truly can't believe that info like that would turn someone away. But I'm not a racer, and its strictly about fun with us. I'm totally pumped to see GeorgeC making plans to come. Was really hoping to see Mikey make an appearance. Hoping like hell, Tom will be racing... I've already promised him that if by some twist of fate his car isn't ready... me and dad are gonna force him to make a pass in my car at least once before that weekend is over .

Well guys, thanks for all the e-mails. I didn't realize I was that popular...lol. I truley do race for fun...never been in any points series or classes and don't plan on it. It's more fun for me to hang with the boys (and girls) than anything else.

Tom, give me a call Wednesday morning if you get a chance.

Not to beat this to death (serious) but a few folks emailed me and corroborated hearing that the Orange SAM car was supposed to have a C5R longblock.

Joe, if you are referring to me, Judson told me on the fone in the middle of the summer that a C5R motor was going in. Now I think he got superbussy with their NMRA. I can call Judson on his cell right now and confirm that he said that if you want... It's no big deal but a lot of folks knew that a C5R was going into that car in midsummer.

If you can't take a little criticism, like the loads you heaped on me behind my back last fall than stop posting. I plan to bring my car to the shootout too this fall.

So for the record, and I am not a pussy, I said he was bringing a C5R out.

His old 418ci was supposed to go into the black Z as well but I'm sure you knew that.

Let's all have fun and Joe don't be so paranoid all you have to do is ask.
