Default Just got HP tuners

Alright I just got my hp tuners and wanted to get started using it right away. I have a bolt on 2000 trans am a4 and wanted to know what to change on it to get better performance. How do I change my rev limiter and my shift points and what should I set them to? I heard I should get rid of torque management, how do I do that? Next week I am getting a torque converter and 3.73 gears installed. I think I know how to calibrate the speedometer by just entering in the tire size and new gear ratio and htting save changes right? Is their anything else I should change with the torque converter or anything else?TIA

i recommend you at least have one read of the help manuals before you begin, especially the VCM Editor section.

Log a lot first. It will give you some ideas on how you are running. It will do you no good to tune an engine that isn't running right, or is getting knock retard.

I know this doesnt pertain to ur question, but those gears wont do much for ur car since u will have a stall. Not trying to tell u what to do but im glad someone told me so i thought i would pass it on. Save some $$ for a better mod.

Alright fellas, I forgot to mention that I already had read the basics in the help manual and was already playing with hp tuners earlier in the day. I turned off my egr and air codes. I changed my tire size from 24.xx(can't remember) to 25.7. I was using the scanner for a little bit and was watching it, everything was looking good. I bought my 3.73's because my car is staying with bolt ons for awhile and should be finished with all the bolt ons next month.

Now what I really want to know is, how do I get rid of torque management? When I go to the torque management table, what values do I change?

What should I set my rev limiter and shift points at? I think I know how to change the rev limiter(electronic feul cutoff?) but where do I change the shft points?

Is there anything I should change when I get my torque converter?

Is logging just recording the scanner while you drive so you can look at it when you stop or something?

Thanks, again.

Change the max allowed torque to 640, and on the torque/spark retard table set them all to 0.

I wouldn't change my rev limiter on a stock car. If you feel obligated to don't add more than a couple hundred RPMs. As far as the shift point, I don't do A4s...I would imagine you should set your shift points higher to where it holds the shift longer.

No idea.

You can log while you drive and look at it when you stop. You can look at it while you drive, but I don't recommend it at all. If you have to, bring a friend to tell you what it is doing.

Is this the torque/spark retard table you are talking about. I just change all of the colored boxes to zero right?

I have a different approach to TM, which is to raise
it across the board to a higher value. Say, no cut
below 500 shaft lb-ft, and a flat 500 anywhere above.

Transmission Torque Reduction Tables to produce TM torque "plateau"

This is a cut-n-paste of the Excel table I used to
create the "plateau" profiles. The format doesn't
come across here though. You'd want to import
it back & use one line corresponding to the level
of max input torque you think you want, for each
of the shift lines. I recommend putting some TM
onto the 3-4, that's got to be a mean one on the
trans if you ever upshift under power.

I uploaded the actual Excel table to horist's site
but the search there only shows .bins; I think I
stuffed a couple of other Excels up there too,
might be they're hidden someplace?
