how long can you go with out a trans cooler
installing a vig 3200 and was wondering how long i could go without one, like traving 10 miles to work and back for a few days, will that hurt any thing?

That *could* potentially go either way I'd have to think. I myself would not want to try it. What it comes down to is having a trans temp gauge or other means to monitor the tranny temp and not letting it get above say 220* MAX. I don't know how much quicker the trans would heat up w/o a cooler, but mine does not heat up very quickly at all as compared to the engine coolant. What is your weather like? What kind of drivng? If it's ten miles of stoplights in 80*+ that could get ugly in a hurry. I have to think if it was ONLY ten miles and was cool at the beginning it *should* be okay.
*Disclaimor: I do not reccomend driving a high stall without a cooler*

Why roll the dice at all on something like this??? The cooler mentioned above is a relatively inexpensive mod, and a very valuable one. Heat is the biggest destroyer of 4L60E's...take it from someone who's tranny has been rebuilt three times, even with a tranny cooler installed! These 4L60E's need all the help they can get, to survive high performance use.
It's your choice...$60 now...or $2500 later. It's up to you. Good luck!
