Default Has anyone run their car in Thunder Shootout Trim??

I have and I'm feeling good about how my car runs @3500 pounds on drag radials. These are the rules for my class, SS/A.

1.62 11.47@117.5
1.62 11.50@117.6

The DA at SCD at 12 noon was +1248', and the wind was a 12 mph headwind.

This is with the 1-2 shift about 400 rpms short and the 2-3 maybe 100 short. I recently switched to a taller tire and didnt get the shift points adjusted. I hope to get this as well as my 60' sorted out before the shootout. I hope to manage mid 1.5 sixty foots. I think I can run 11.30's at 119 in november.

So, has anyone else fattend-up and tired-down yet?

No, I haven't run in "Thunder Shootout" trim for my class (Pro Stock). I still would have to remove 400 lbs, install a powerglide with a transbrake, and borrow Colonel's C5R engine.

LOL!

You do have a roll bar in that thing don't you?

Are they really going to look that close at your times and what you have in the car, safety wise?

Who's to say that you go up there and they ask your time and you say 12's and you go out and run 11's are they going to stop you from running because of the missing rollbar?

Forgot to add something, sweet time that you have there.

And yes I do believe tech inspection will be run by the book.
So you better have a driveshaft loop when needed, and the same goes for roll bar. I do believe you would be disqualified if you didnt meet any of the set rules. This applies to engine modifications, weight, tires, exhaust, and safety.
So yes, I think they would stop you from running.

And thanks for the compliment

Nice job Mike. If your car has rollbar and driveshaft loop it should be cool. Are you at 3500#s now. Frank95z

excellent times Mike! It ought to make for an awesome run between us! I haven't run the car yet like it will be at the shootout, but I expect to be in the same neighborhood as you. I have an additional 9 RWHP throughout the band thanks to a new cam. Now I have to get the damn trans rebuilt. The 2-3 shift is REALLY slow. I guess the new cam put it over the top. I'm slapping a lot of stuff together, but I should have it all together in time for November 2nd. I can't wait for the shootout!

Frank, I didnt get the car on a scale, but it should be 3500. I hope to weigh wednesday at NPR. Are they going to prep the track?

Trevor, the race should be fun indeed!
You better not jinx my stock tranny!
Did you go with the single pattern 228?
Get that thing to the track so we can timeslip up to the race

Mike I talked to Pat on Monday and he said track would be preped. He claims that they spray more VHT on Wednesdays than most tracks spray all month. I have heard complaints about NPR Wednesday prep but after talking to Pat I believe track will hook tommorrow night. I think most of the problem is from street tires and vehicles with single traction dragging up water. I'll be there. Mike give me one light and I'll race you Frank95z

lol..I figured you would get a kick out of that. Lets just hope the air is this good for the big race day. High of 71 tomorrow and low of 46. Your car seems to run good with the weight back in it..you will be a hard car to beat at the shootout. see you guys tomorrow night.
