Default Advertised Duration ? and the LS6 Cam

Hey guys, I was looking at the LS6 cam results and its been seen that this cam stacks up very well compared to other mild cams like the TR220 cam and cams around that size. Then I was looking at the advertised duration numbers for that cam at SDPC and they were 270/282. These is a lot more duration than any of the small cams out there. The duration at .050 for the LS6 cam is 204/218 according to GM. On a comp cam Xtreme-RPM lobe the duration would be 216/228. On the XE lobe the dur. would be 217/229 and on the XE-R lobe 221/233. I'm not a cam expert and my question is why is there such a large variance in duration at .050 when the adv. dur. are equal and lift is not too far off? I thought this was a mildly aggressive cam in the field of ramps, but if these adv. dur. specs are right it is actually very lazy. Has anyone put the LS6 on a cam doctor to see if these are the actual specs at .050?

Default Re: Advertised Duration ? and the LS6 Cam

OEM cams usually have a much less aggressive ramp profile than an aftermarket cam. This keeps valvetrain noise to a minimum.
