No changes since I ran 12.62 @ 110.11 mph w/ 1.92 short with a set of '99 Z28 wheels and bald BFG drag radials, except new rear Convo Pros with Hoosier drags. My friends were telling me the drags would slow me down but I did not expect them to slow me down as much as they did.
Here's my runs:
Run1
.546
2.004
5.478
8.298
87.89 MPH
10.727
12.796
108.95 MPH
Run 2
.594
1.993
5.484
8.303
87.76 MPH
10.736
12.809
108.72 MPH
Now, both of those runs were with DA around 0 feet. Last time I was running 12.6s @ 110 mph all night long with the BFG's and DA around 800 feet. So, the slicks were slowing me down nearly .25 ET and 2 MPH if you consider the correction for DA!. But I thought a few changes could improve my times so here's what I did...
After logging my second run with EFILive I noticed my 1-2 shift was @ 6250 rpms but my 2-3 shift was only @ 6070 rpms. So with LS1Edit I bumped the 2-3 shift up 1 mph from 78 to 79. My friend also used Edit to lock my converter @ 95 mph. Then, I raised the slicks from 14psi to 25psi. Finally, I took all the crap out of my car (about 50 to 70 pounds worth) and put it in my friend's car.
Run 3
.578
1.945
5.375
8.149
89.22 MPH
10.542
12.580
110.54 MPH
Woah! I can understand the ET somewhat, since my 60 foot was better but I didn't expect those MPH's?!? . I was going to leave after my third run but now I had to make one more pass just to back it up for peace of mind.
Run4
.515
1.962
5.396
8.173
89.08 MPH
10.569
12.610
110.43 MPH
Well, a little slower but at least I backed up the 12.58 pass. BTW, EFILive was showing my 2-3 shift @ 6230 rpms, right where I wanted it.
Well, now the Yank PT4400 that's sitting in my garage can go in. That will be my only change for the next time I go to the drag strip. It should give me a good me a good indication of how much the converter is worth. I can't wait!
