math? you mean run the 1/8 and come up with it? already did that and its easily 11's i just want an 11 second slip. everytime i run my car its faster and faster with each pass. i dont want to go and run the 1/8 all night and then go a full 1/4 and get booted. anyone else? btw it will be hallsville here in texas cause we are heading to shreveport afterwards.

There was a WS6 LT1 car at our track day that ran close to 10-flat with no cage. Said he'd never have one. Guess he only attends private races where there is no tech. Damn fool if you ask me. Not likely to survive a crash at 130 without a cage

I don't mean to start any uprisings here but if your looking for ways around putting a cage in your car when it is fast, then you don't need to be taking it to the track. I know what it's like to think "It won't happen to me," but it can and will, and the longer you push the limit with out being safe, your chances of not getting hurt or killed get less and less.

And by the way, who are you to say it WILL happen? I understand completely that no one is invincible and that it COULD happen, but I somehow don't think it WILL happen to everyone. Call me crazy.

P.S. I'm not encouraging an uprising of any sort, either, so let's keep the discussion civil if it has to go this route.

I thought I might add that I know the rules and I understand completely why they are there, but personally, my desire to go fast is so great that I'm willing to take the slight risk for a short period of time while the funds for a roll cage find their way into my bank account.

I made several 11 sec passes w/no cage and no helmet at US41, they don't enforce anything unless you have a full blown race car.

I have no plans for a cage but I think I will at least wear my helmet from now on.

I've gotten away with running 11.50s in my Nova with no rollbar. I just sprayed it every now and then so I usually didn't get busted. The first time they said something, I started wearing a racing jacket after that. The last 3 times I haven't had anything said to me about missing the rollbar!
That's just my experience.

Here's my problem w/ the 11.99 or faster Cage rule.....

A lightweight A-4 (A-3) car can run 11.99 w/ a trap speed of less than 112 mph, but he still needs a cage.....however, an M-6 car, w/ a bad driver and/or crappy tires can run 120+ mph and still only manage a 12.00, but he's perfectly safe?. Based on that logic, the NHRA rules are telling me that it's the ET (traction) that will kill me and not the speed?? Ummmm....ok. There is something fundamentally wrong w/ the ET determining the cage requirement.

Oh and let's not even get into IHRA rules.

Everything's cool till you run under 11.50. Sure am glad MIR is IHRA. I hope to get run out of there someday soon, maybe tomorrow.

MIR: 11.49 and under need cage

my goal is to be warned and kicked out of there with a cam only mod

i made 3 passes at cecil under 11.99 and never got kicked out, but granted they were all 11.9's so they let me slide.

like ebbs said why do you need a cage and trap only say 112-114 but run 11.5-9's. If i were trapping 120+ i would have a cage more than likely. Sorta why im no spraying right now

The person that feels he or she does not need a roll cage and DOES happen to crash and get injured.

He or she then proceeds to sue the pants off the track owner for not adhering to NHRA or IHRA saftey regulations just because his or her LAWYER says it can be done for BIG BUCKS $$$$$.

The fact that the driver felt the roll cage was not needed or it was the drivers choice to have or not to have a cage is irrelevant now because BIG BUCKS $$$$$ are involved and that is all that really matters at this point.

That is why track owners are strict on the rules and regulations.

Just my 2 cents.

Tom
