What is it? Im leaving Raughammer and George C out just because of their piston/rebuilt motors. I think Terry Burger went 10.80s with all stock LS1 internals. Anyone faster? Angie maybe? Just curious.

John Raugh. went 10.86 or 83? with an UNTOUCHED shortblock

IMO thats the record

I'm not the fastest I'm sure but can't be far off for what it is.
98 Z28 stock bottom end with a ARE stage 2 H/C from spring of last year, YTP 4400 A-4, Strange 12 bolt with 4.10
Car is about 3450lbs with me in it and still has air. 32,000 miles and driven occasionally.
New best as of yesterday 11.19 @ 120.2 with a 1.49 60ft.

My shortblock is stock, with the exception of the cam. I still have the stock pistons, rods, crank, etc. The only "internal" motor work was when Geoff put cam in almost 2 years ago. I'm running a Thunder Racing 220/220 .561/.561 112 lsa cam, with CNC heads. My best run to date is 10.83 @ 122.9 w/ a 1.41 60'.

I know my setup was WAY FAR AWAY from fastest, but I was happy with 11.6 @ 119 w/ M6 and a FULL weight car...

I believe that Scott Jantzer's 10.82 is the quickest...

10.9 @ 123.5.....stock shortblock. GTP heads/Ams custom cam....would have went alittle faster, but all the runs where at 3450#'s.

If you had a ~3000 pound raceweight like Raugh and others you would be high 10.70's LOW 10.8's easily!

Now u know how I feel Chris
11.17@120----->3545lbs!!!

I must get down to 3450 or less.
I cant compete w/3300lb cars...

Yep I definitely know how you feel.

I think once you get your car running consistent where you want it to be. (It seems to be running anywhere from 11.4 to 11.5 in its current configuration right?)

Then taking the weight out will only help. I still think you should run 4.30 gears and a 26 inch slick
cheers,
Chris

Cars running pretty consistant 11.30's now w/ME in the seat. But I still need to get the car down at least another 100lbs w/ME in the car.

Truthfully I'd like it to be right at 3400lbs but I dont think I'll be there for a while.I figure the LW carpet,CF pinon hood, and 2 more little tricks will get another 70lbs out of the car.

That should get me to 3480lbs.I hope to lose another 25lbs myself by Feb.So I should be able to get REAL close to 3450lbs come the beginning of March,Chris..

Little bit at a time...

Thanks Chris,
Previous best was 11.32 @ 119 with a DA of 1500. Recently put in a BMR K-member and switched to Bogart's and with better weather I think teh DA was around 500 and was able to meet my 11teen goal. You may have seen the car in the August issue of Car Craft.
For all of you chasing those great times you see out there make sure you look at the car weight. Do the math, your probably closer than you think. Me, I just think the car is alot cooler as a Street/ Strip car. No Tin Can for me thanks.
Yes I'm "Big Air" just a diferent name from my work computer

RageMAN I wish you luck.

When the ported 6.0L heads go in with a real cam and another 100lbs weight reduction, expect to see 10.50's this coming year on a stock shortblock.

Scott u are flying thats for sure but....

3000lbs is LIGHT even compaired to Raughs 3200lbs 10.83,If he wouldve been 3000lbs the car couldve went 10.60 for sure w/his stock shortblock back in 01.

Raugh now has a rebuilt shortblock and a tweek on the cam and runs 10.60's.THATS SERIOUS ET for a 3200lb car....

IMO unless your 3450 or less u arent gonna see 10's on motor outta stock short block N/A H/C car.I dont car what anyone sez,it wont happen at 3500lbs...

With a SOLID yes,it could happen.
Hyd. no way,3450 or less for 10's........

Well, I ran 11.08 @ 125.8 with a 3400lb racewieght. I'm going to gut the car and try and make a valid effort to ge the car into the 10's..

I actually have to shift my car though

Tonight, it should run faster as I am hoping that it won't hit the rev limiter on the shifts like it did last week.

After tonight's run, I'll give the complete rundown...changes since my April bolt-on blast of 11.27 was: put a 6-pt cage, dual race seats with harnesses, stock (heavy) carpet back in (lightweight carpet sitting in the barn the whole year), console, etc. back in. Trans and rear the same as before (4.11's in 12-bolt, Yank 4400). Engine: added GMPP CNC'd LS6 heads with "not too wild cam"...custom 112.5 LSA, 0.561"/0.561", 220/230 at 0.050 (I believe those are correct, but will have to check at home).

Raceweight grew to over 3300#'s. The car is running better than I expected.

60' was my worst of the night: 1.465, best had been a 1.429 but I hit the limiter HARD and went 10.96 or 10.98?

As time goes by and we learn more and more about these cars. The records are going to continue to be set...faster and faster times are coming from everybody.

John

Thanks. I've got some videos if someone can post them, just email me. John, like many, I used yours as the basis. There is a lot more in these cars and time will find things out. For example, my car only is running 22-23 deg spark over the run at WOT (no knock) on stock injectors and fuel pump. Next spring, I'd like to spend some time on the chassis dyno playing with spark/fuel. I have not dyno'd the car with the heads and cam change.

Also, my car is "heavier" than it may end up being in the future with the airbags, stock carpet, radio head/speakers, both seats (race ones), stock brakes, etc. If I could convince myself that I never would drive it on the street, those, along with the heater and posi / heavy axles would "fall" off the car.

Being from Dallas originally, I always longed for the Motorplex to open up in early February. As we now start to put ours up for the winter (mine is as of this morning), you TX boys start drooling for the good air that comes on now down at the Plex and HRP. Good luck to you guys this winter.

This winter, I'm putting another line lock and a Harlan-two step on it along with my delay box from another car that I had. I plan on bracket racing some next year, either footbrake or "on the box" with line locks.

I'll give a rundown of the latest mods in another post. Thanks and take care. Dave
