Default Poor Track Performance, Need Help, long

I am new too the sport of Drag racing, so much of this could be driver error. With that said my car is a 98 ss Camaro m6. I have a stage one head job, flowed 285 CFM, stock valves...Thunder Cam 224 224, 561 561 lift 112 lobe sep. ls6 intake, Mac headers and off road y pipe running through flowtech cutout. I am running a spec clutch through a stock ten bolt rear with 342's in it. I have ls1 edit and auto tap.....As far as programming goes i have just started to play...Removed torque management and a few other changes.....The best I have mustered out of the car has been a 13.07 @111.51 mph. I have ran the car two other times on days with similar conditions and had similar results I shift at 6500 and am leaving softly at 3500 rpm's (rearend limited) Going through the traps in 3rd gear..Usually pulling 2.0-2.1 60's because of the bog on launch..no suspension upgrades to this date. I am seeing 1-3 degrees of intermitent knock retard, although this has been difficult to track down the source of the problem.... The track Was Cedar Falls Raceway in Iowa, Temps were in the upper 60's and the precip was roughly the same.
I put the car on the dyno and it pulled 385.5 @6200rwhp, and 369 rwt around 4000 What do you guys think of these times, seems to me they are slow, I understand the et being slow with the 60, but i thought my mph would be higher. just getting a little frustrated...Thanks for your replys

You need gears and tires

I would recommend a 12 bolt with 4.30s

A good chromeoly or HD alum DS

ET streets (26x10.5x16) or full slicks

A 5000rpm launch

Mid-high 11's with that RWHP level @118-120mph depending on vehicle weight and a 6500rpm shift point

Cheers,
Chris

That day at Cedar Falls was a very bad day for traction, Too many street tires from the imports. I would go with 4:10's, ET streets, and a McCloud clutch, some suspension mods, and a good day at the track. You have the mph to be in the 11's just give it time.

Do 6 speeds have torque management? I thought that was an A4 thing. Maybe you messed with something in the computer you shouldnt have?

According to zr1 Torque management is present in the m6's. I raised my torque limit to 999.0 ftlb's and zeroed my torque reduction table, I cant really tell if there was a difference or not. I know there is a ton of potential still left in programming, the trick is just to find it. I was just hoping to have a little better performance at the track. One thing is for sure, I need to ditch the 10 bolt, and add some gears.
I raced at union grove WI last weekend and ran similar times. The traction was so good that I was afraid to launch the car higher than 3500, and suffered huge bogs even that was pushing it! Nittos on a well prepped track hook! Thanks for your responses.

It's good to respect your weak rear, but there is more in your launch. The M6's are harder to get down, but you can work on some decent 1.8 60's on nitt's. From your comment on boggin, are you bringing the idle up to 3k or so and on the light letting the clutch out and basically driving like on the street at a street light, or are you reving and dumping the clutch and giving her the funny foot to the floor? Sounds like you need to relax and slide the foot off the clutch and jam the go pedal a little better too, shouldn't be bogging, practice, practice, practice-just not on the streets. Subframe connectors, Lower control arms, poly mount torque arm???? Any suspension mods at all, not even the little ones??? Ouch. Good Luck, sounds like your doing the right thing though, collecting info from other people that've been there done that. Charlie.

Personally, I think you did great.. Last year I installed the T1 cam and Mac headers.. I dyno'd 390rwhp/380rwtq post tuning from Ed W. B4 the mods the car ran 13.2. After the mods I went back and I was running 13 flat at like 114mph.. I could not figure it out. I went from 318rwhp to 390rwhp and picked up only 2 tenths.. Anyway, it took me months to get the car down to 12.28 at 116mph. I also had 3.42's. Its all in the launch.. That was with a 2.0 60 ft on DR's. No weight reduction.. 3750lbs..

I think you guys are right about the launch...I may have not had my timing down with the pedals...Actually Im sure I did not. How do you guys with the m6 do it? What I have been doing is bringing car to desired rpm and then engageing clutch as quickly as I can with out side stepping the clutch. I think where my problem is, I am not hitting the fun pedal at the right time, causing my car to do the bog...You right practice makes perfect...The best part is practice is damn fun! Thanks for your replys
