Default What Air Pressure for 245 50 16" Nittos?

I have a stock m6 camaro with 3.42 gears. From what I have read m6's dont seem to do well with nittos. Im gonna heat them up good. I dont have line locs so Ive been practicing heating them up and am able to hold the car by riding the brakes.

What air pressure should I run? Id like to get some 1.75 60ft times if the clutch holds.

Good luck! there is no way you will get 1.7 60 ft times, unless you have alot more HP, and launch at 7000 RPM or higher!
My best with Nittos, and alot more mods than you is 1.92, which is not the best, but not bad. M6s do not 60 ft well.

Try 25-27 psi. My son's Mustang ran a 1.76 60' with 26 psi with these tires. It can be done.

Damn Mykdiver

2.73s? Are you tryin for bonneville?

Larry

Im surprised that the nittos like that much pressure. Ive been drivin around with 20 psi. Im all for higher air pressure if they hook. Less rollin resistance. I will air them up to 27 psi, they can always be lowered at the track if needed.

The best time so far is a 13.29 at 107. Hopefully the cutout and nittos will get me into 12's.

i was running a 245/50 nitto, i ran it at 19lbs. it hooked fairly well i went 1.71 60 foot but my car is a a4 with a moser 12 bolt 3.73 and 125 shot of nitrous. you will probably have to play with the pressure at the track to see what works best for you. good luck

I had a heads/cam set up with the stock 3.42 and I cut a 1.79 on 245/50/16 Nittos with about 24 psi in them. I didn't get to play around with the tire pressure because I was booted off for an 11 sec. pass. There are plenty of M6's that run well with Nittos, but having a 3.73 or 4.10 might help a bit.

What do you mean "M6's don't 60 well"?? Are you nutz?? It's all in the driver!!! I know of cars w/ lid and a cutout that cut 1.82's on BFG's. Nittos I've seen 1.7's all overthe place! It's all about how you drive. As far as running the nittos on the street, 22 PSI seems to be the pressure that they wear evenly at. More than that and the centers wear out MUCH quicker than the outside, less and the sidewalls get too hot Have fun!

Thanks for the tips everyone.

I ran them at 22psi and got a 1.92 short time with a 4000k launch with 3.42s. They were dead hooking. Good enough to get me a 12.90 at 108.

Clutch hydraulics were causing me problems though. The pedal would be half way to the floor by the end of the run. Shifting third was impossible unless grannied.

Will the 245s hook in a 400+ RWHP car on the street. A4. Or would I have to go with something bigger. I have a set of 17x11 rims. But for daily driving I am thinking of using some firehawks. Then put some Nitto's on my original factory rims. Oh and its a 383 stroker so produces Torque down low.

Later,
JoMo

No seriously, I blew my rearend at the track, and my buddy hooked me up with this rearend, so I can drive the car until I get my 12 bolt.

ok here goes.. i have a bolt on A4

3.23's
vig3600
LCA's
SFC's
SLP LT's/offroad pipe
other little bolt ons
but stock internally at 18-20PSI on 245/16 inch nittos I cut a 1.58 60'
I always cut roughly 1.62-1.66's on them with no probs at all. I found that 1.66's are about all they will hold on a so/so prepper track for me. Go to a well prepped track and you will see much better 60's. Ive seen guys run 16inch nittos to the 1.52-54's range. Usually there PSI is also 18PSI.. anything less cups the tire.

with my 224 cam now I cant find the borderline yet. It took me about 2 years to find the happy medium to get them to hook NA. My best with the cam is only a 1.64, but i hope to dip to 1.55's on them this spring

Larry01Z28 cut a 1.70 and went 11.80's on nittos stock internally also

Nittos hook, just take the time to figure them out.. the key is the burnout
