Stock light weight carpet?
Is it possible to strip out the factory carpet and remove the sound deadening material from the bottom? shouldn't the stock carpet weigh the same as the crappy carpet from Home Depot? The carpet in the car now is already form fitted, it would be easier to install.
Any thoughts?

You can lose some weight this way, but the thick backing on the stock carpet is pretty heavy compared to the lightweight stuff out there.
When I originally removed all the sound deadening stuff from my stock carpet, I think I dropped a little over 20lbs or so.

Yea thats what I was wondering. I amd about to rip out all my interior to install a weld in roll bar. I was going bolt in but I've decided to just buy a weld in one. Anyway, I want to install light carpet since everything is coming out, back seats and all. I know it a PITA to install carpet in a car and make it look factory when its not form fitted.

Year one sells molded carpet for our cars. With the backing removed it is a lot lighter than the factory carpet with backing removed.
Cheers,
Chris
I think it is around 240 bucks or so.
