War of the Performance Shops
Well here is the deal it is Winter soon and I need A new protect car, however it needs to be a 8.50 sec. car. So any ideas or shops would help. So far the plan is a BBC full tubed car from BES. BES Is said to be the best. OH and the only reason I am building this is to beat this old man's camaro (83 camaro,SB2,10" tires) runing 9.51. I want the best and will spend $60K - $100K, but I must beat him. There is a BIG beet on it in April of 2003,Because his engine is being rebuilt Says it will do 9.20. And I do not want a power adder. HELP PLEASE.

Re: War of the Performance Shops
Interesting post. You don't need a BBC to run 8.50. I assume you are going to reduce the weight and turn it into a race car right? Most of the performance shop here including us, have the ability to produce this kind of combo but there are always sacrifices (and alot of green) involved. 8.50 without a power adder will be tough but possible.
Good luck with your project.

Mikey is right you dont need a BBC. Or even a tubbed car.
If you have your heart set on -=BES=-, then that is a good choice! They powered a car in 6 of the final round cars at the NMCA world finals this season. Thats a damn good track record! A guy who is a local for me won the limited street points wiht a BES motor in a 3rd gen Trans Am with carbed and nitrous SBC.
FWIW, if you are building a car to go fast, any will work. Lots of mustangs go low 8's on stock suspension. And there are plenty of shops out there building Ford's really fast too.
Good luck.
