Default 700ra tranny shifting, or stay in drive?

ok..i have an auto again normaly i drive 5spds.

Anyhow driving my 700r4 tranny i feel like i get a **** lkoad better speed by shifting from 1-2-3 rather then just staying in Drive.

i know people just say stay in D and mash it, but they are allways refering to electronic and as far as i know 700r4 is hydro.

when i just leav it in Drive and mash it off the line, i could swear my V6 could out accelrate me between 0-45.

So whats the 411 on this?

Well when you go manual through the gears your choosing your own shift points as where when you mash it in Drive it goes into "well heres a little bit more performance but i dont want to waist alot of gas" mode which equals homosexual. When you race, put it in 3 and let her rip. NEVER RACE IN OD, thats a good way to **** **** up.

Good day.

Not only do you extend your shift points by manually selecting them, but manual 1st and manual 2nd also increases line pressure by directing D2 fluid to the bottom of the Reverse Boost valve, giving firmer shifts.

If it shifts on its own at the desired RPM, then you can leave it in Drive (not OD) and hit the gas. If it shifts to early at WOT, then you can tweak the governer, or manually shift it.
