Default Reduce Timing with EGR Removal?

Have any of you guys timing after EGR removal? I am finally getting all my trims negative, but I have been seeing some part throttle knock retard since the removal (via PCM) of EGR.

Sure something is not banging around creating false knock? I had to add a spring to my ypipe to keep it from smaking and creating KR. No EGR and all is well.

timing is added for the EGR, all you should need to do is zero out that table.

What table do you remove timing from?

Thanks

did you click the disable button for EGR, or simply remove codes?

i was under the impression that if you disabled it by the radio button, it disabled that table, but i could be wrong.

so then whats the concensus? If you delete it via egr enabled/disabled button your good to go and just remove it whether your swapping intakes or just removing egr? Or is there something in the high & low octane tables you have to adjust for? If im set I'll pull that eyesore tomorrow lol

Thanks
Bill

I never quite figured this out. If I remove EGR with the HPTuners option. Since it still throws codes...does it still apply the timing found in the EGR timing add table? I can easily zero it out...

After I removed the EGR on my 98 with an LS6 intake and LS1-Edit. I wound up adding a few degrees of timing (~2). I'm not sure if this was due to the LS6 intake making my engine stronger(or maybe just more efficient) or the lack of EGR.

Where did you add timing? I pulled a little today, and eliminated a good portion of my knock retard. It's hard to be sure...my engine gets knock retard like a **** if I let it get heat-soaked. Now it seems better, just a few degrees to trim.

Thats a crapload of extra timing. 98s are already aggressive...is that really safe?

the timing is safe. IF your pumping in the inert gas, (EGR)

If your remove the EGR, turn it off at the button, and log your timing. since EGR is not a factor at WOT, its not a big deal anyways

Yeah. It turns that extra timing off when you disable EGR. I think it is still too much. I think they factored a little bit of the EGR table directly into the main timing table, and the rest into that EGR table. I removed some timing in some choice spots and I get way less knock retard, and a big difference in knock when you first punch it. I heard a little pinging at moderate throttle, and I think this fixed it too. Too much timing for my temperamental car I guess. I need a 160 stat...I get the most kr when my engine bay gets heat soaked.

Maybe you want cold air induction, and/or to play with your
spark vs IAT table. Presuming you have the fans set proper
so that your stock 'stat is maintaining a steady 194F while
sitting, ECT shoulf not be a factor.
