<img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

My ignition-cutting-out problem came back.

I tried to launch the car at Friday nite TnT and the car cut out as it was launching... Front end was up about 1.5 ft and then it cut out, GTS SS has video and I would like it so we can listen to it.

Fuel pressure looked weird Saturday morning so I decided not to risk screwing up the car. In park holding the rpms at 4000 just bipping the gas my FP would go from 60 to 50... under zero load.

Speed Inc. and I are going to work on it.

Car was 3580 raceweight with 1/2 tank and both front seats (Nineball was 3611).

John,
Page Justin Sears or e-mail him, he has my video tapes right now.
Ask him if he'll post a mpeg link for you.

In all these posts no one has said why John didn't try for 10s. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Thanks Gordon. Video is very helpful.

I bought a 98 wiring harness and we will swap it early next week.

John, I didn't know you even tried to run the car Friday night...

Give me some more info on the "cutting out" that the car is doing. Describe exactly what happens when it does this. I may have an idea. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

First off TobaccoGeorge,

My battery is stock, stock location, and the holddown is fine.

Okay to answer your Q...

I did try to run the car.

At high rpms, usually ONLY at WOT...

Car will cut out... and then as an afteraffect fuel runs down the pipes and ignites when it hits the hot exhaust (backfire). I get occasional 'crank position codes' too.

This problem as been intermittent since last December. I have replaced a lot of small things. I have never pinpointed what is the minimum amount of throttle needed to make it shut off/ cut out but it's up around 80-90% for sure, and it will do it at WOT every time. If I do it going slow and brake right after it happens sometimes the car will still be running but most times it stalls out I think from getting flooded.

I bought a 98 harness and we plan to pull the motor to replace the harness so lay it on me fellow GTP #4 brotha... I'll even send your trailer stand back. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Well, my first instinct was the battery, but it sounds like you have that one covered...

I wonder if this problem goes hand in hand with your fuel pressure drop-off problem? That would explain everything except the backfire. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Sean Freese had a good idea about the whole situation... Take the car to someone, drop it off, and let them go through everything until they find the problem(s). You're going to get a lot of different answers (many of which I'm sure you've already tried) from the various folks here. One shop that knows their LS1's could probably take care of the problem once and for all.

I doubt it's anything in the engine harness, but it can't hurt to try.

Fuel pressure is dipping too low it seems.

Wade from ARE wants me to investigate before we yank the harness.

Speed Inc. will take over and work on both things.

I appreciate the offer Chris even if you are being a young smartass in the delivery of it, but I cannot take the time off to tow down there.

John, I tried emailing you "The List" from the brain storming session. I think that "zero possibility" needs to be looked at before anything. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Fix that problem and the shift points, and you'll be a happy camper. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

At least John made the trip.
PSJ good seeing you again and I'm glad you had the pleasure of pitting along side Tim H & myself, LOL. You did show Tim and myself up in the pit... your area had more empty beer cans than ours!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

John, I have the same problem if I race on less than 1/4 tank of gas. The hard launch apparantly causes my fuel to run dry and the car cuts out for an instant and then takes off. It happened this weekend again when I was too lazy to get to the pits for some fuel. Added a little fuel and away she went <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Thanks Mikey I had about a half tank of gas.

I dropped off car with Speed Inc... I was hitting the gas like 1/2 throttle and my fuel pressure was going to 50 from 60 instantly... We will test and then pull the intank out I think the rubber line came off or burst.
