What happens if you overfill your tranny is your tranny fluid gets air bubbles in it. When it gets air bubbles it doesnt lubricate or work the valvebody near as well. overfilling = bad .......m'kay

Correct, 4L60E cannot be overfilled enough to cause damage.
Unless it's crimped/kinked there is a small black overflow vent tube that will allow excess fluid out when it heats up and expands.
Mine's clipped to my torque arm, came that way from the factory.
(In fact, it's one of the few factory parts left on my car, lmao).

I have a 4L80E that I overfilled. Fluid came out of the overfill vent, and everything seems to be ok as far as the level goes. However, on initial startup it is stuck in 2nd gear. It will not shift at all. I have park, then reverse, then Drive, but drive is 2nd gear. Not sure what to do here. I thought it was potentially due to the overfill issue, but now I am not so sure.

Just remember trans fluid is extremely flammable. Overfilled tranny, spitting out the vent, exhaust runs under the tranny = smoke show and possible fire.
