Default How much did you pay to replace your valve springs?

I was quoted $500-$550 just for labor to replace my valve springs at a local Fla shop. What is a fair price to pay for labor? BTW my car is a C5.

I think they are sticking it up your ***! It's an 1.5-2 hour job in a C5!

Even at $100/per/hr it shouldn't be more then $200!

Lets say it took them double......4 hrs would only be $400.00

Sounds like they never have done them before! Maybe there scared!

Yeah I think you're right, they were trying to give me the shaft. This is a local Chevy dealer that has a special high performance shop on the premises, they have done plenty of H/C and other high performance work so it's not that they don't what there doing.

i think the going rate around here is like $250. I would suggest just buying a tool and doing it yourself. It is really not that difficult, trust me, its just time consuming.

I paid $0.00 I've done my own a few times. It sounds like they are charging the "Dealer" rate.
Should only take an experienced shop with the right tools 1-1/2 hours.

I paid 350 for cam and springs. A who posts on here (Gomer) did a great job. Maybe someone in your area can do it cheaply for you.
