I've been reading about the Spring Shootout and was wondering what exactly is index racing? Heads up racing in the 1 second ranges? Or some sort of bracket type racing?

It's heads-up with a breakout.

It's like bracket racing, except EVERYONE gets the same dial-in, 10,11,12 second.

Example: 10 index, you run 9.99 and lose.

For an example:
If your car can ET 10:50 you would enter the 11:00 class OR somehow make your car faster to run closer to 10:00.

You would need to add weight to your car or hit the brakes at the big end to run as close to 11:00 without breaking out which would be a 10:99.

You could enter the 10:00 class but the cars that normally run very low 10's and also the cars that run 9's and add weight or foot brake would be in that class and render you uncompetetive.

Thats the way I understand it.

If you run very low 10's or 11's or 12's etc. your in the bag. Otherwise you need to get faster or slower depending on the class you choose to run in. It's bracket racing without a dial in.

Ok thanks, so it is kind of what I thought. Sounds actually tougher then bracket racer unless you have a setup that runs right at the index!
