Default ET / MPH Gains from EWP and Vac Pump?

Has anyone done any testing before and after these mods? I have neither of them and wondering what they would give me? I just did the !power steering mod and really didn't see much of anything.

I just switched (a few weeks ago) over to an electric water pump drive. It did help a little, but I didn't do any true "back to back" testing with it, so I couldn't say how much for sure. Rough guess on my would be .06-.07sec and ~1mph or so.

It works pretty well, but a real electric water pump (like the Meziere) would work better. I can watch the coolant get pretty warm during a blast down the track, but it does cool it down quickly. It's pretty neat to go back to the pits, shut the car off (leaving the fans/water pump on), and watch the coolant temp. plummet in a hurry. FWIW, the Meziere pump moves about 35gpm, while the electric drive I rigged up on the stock pump moves just about idle speed.

Belt driven racing vac. pump is one for next season... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

George, forgive my ignorance, but how do you do that little trick (turn off the motor, while letting the cooling system keep running)?

This is not a good idea with the Dynabat and other drag batteries!

Use a generator and battery charger in the pits. That is what I do. Keep the pump running and the fans with it on a charger.

I have my LT1's EWP wired through a switch (well, a relay/switch), so I can turn it off when using LT1Edit... Don't want to take any chances of killing the battery while programming. Of course, I *have* forgotten to turn it on before. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> I do have an indicator LED to help remind me that the pump is off (or if the fuse pops). <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I also have a manual fan switch on my LT1 car, to do exactly what George describes.
